Job summary

Ryerson is seeking a Service Center Operator B (SCOB) to support day-to-day staging, packing, and picking material for shipments, using proper equipment. You will work with SAP work orders and operate forklifts as part of a robust shipping and receiving workflow.

Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program during onboarding and training, with a focus on accuracy, safety, and continuous improvement in a dynamic metals environment.

Qualifications

• Skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving.
• Minimum 2 years of similar job experience preferred.
• Basic math skills required.
• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer.
• Physical ability to pass vision, hearing, and mobility exams.
• Enrollment in a registered apprenticeship program as part of onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders.
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders.
• Packaging of material to customer requirements.
• Operating a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed.
• Completing SAP work orders for shipping/receiving paperwork.
• Maximizing productivity for finished goods creation.
• All other duties as assigned or changed as needed.

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders
• Packaging of material to customer requirements
• Operating a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed
• Proper completion of paperwork and SAP work order confirmation for shipping/receiving on the computer
• Maximum productivity for finished goods creation
• All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

• Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills

Pay rate: $26.89/hr . A starting pay rate higher than $ 26.89 per hour is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
