Spokane Colleges is seeking a Warehouse Operator 1 to inspect, load and deliver parcels to campuses and off-site locations under the direction of the Logistics Manager. Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, move and load, and inspect various types of materials and equipment in order to deliver items to faculty and staff throughout Spokane Colleges.
  • Deliver packages, equipment and materials to each campus, the district office and Head Start locations.
  • Complete pick-ups of approved surplus furniture/supplies across the district.
  • Maintain appropriate records to ensure accurate inventory of items shipped and received.
  • Performs duties involved in maintenance, arrangement and cleanliness of the warehouse/worksite and equipment.
  • May act on behalf of the Warehouse Operator 2 as needed.
  • Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions.
  • Comply with district policies, procedures and directives, state and federal regulations, orders and statutes and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Support and advance Spokane Colleges' strategic plan, and perform other duties as assigned.

Department: District Inventory/Central Receiving

Salary Range: $3,653 - $4,201

Starting salary for this position is: $3,653 (Monthly)

Employees hired at the entry step of this range receive salary step advancement after six months and every 12 months thereafter. An employee hired at anything higher than the entry step of the range will have salary step advancement after 12 months and every 12 months thereafter until they reach the top of the salary range. Each salary step advancement will be approximately a 5% increase.

Spokane Colleges is comprised of two accredited colleges, Spokane Community College (SCC) and Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC) serving Spokane, Stevens, Whitman, Ferry, and Pend Oreille Counties, as well as portions of Lincoln County.

About the Warehouse Operator 1
JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Logistics Manager, the Warehouse Operator 1 will inspect, load and deliver parcels to Spokane Colleges campuses and off-site locations. This position has direct responsibility for handling parcels and ensuring faculty and staff receive parcels in a timely manner to facilitate the educational programs of Spokane Colleges. This position will assist in the removal of surplus, including furniture and equipment, in a timely manner to help maintain an organized and safe environment across the district.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of warehouse and inventory control standards.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Six months experience receiving, delivering and shipping with a large-scale government or commercial warehouse.
  • Forklift certified.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Work is active in nature, will be on your feet for extended periods.
  • Move up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 75 lbs. occasionally. Team lifts are encouraged and to be used at the employee's discretion.
  • Frequent use of computer and exposure to terminal screens.
  • Visual focus and strain.
  • Operates and controls movement of power tools and/or large mechanized, powered and non-powered equipment.
  • Frequent kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and twisting.
  • Extension of arms overhead for sustained periods.
  • Requires communication ability necessary to understand instructions and recognize hazardous, unsafe or poisonous materials and/or products.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes, dust, odors and/or biohazards.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Full-time schedule (12 months, 40 hours per week).
  • This position is overtime eligible.
  • 6-month probationary period.
  • Must possess or complete Hazardous Materials Training Certification within first 2 months of employment.
  • Must possess or obtain a forklift operator's license within first 6 months of employment.
  • Requires local or regional travel. If using personal vehicle proof of driver's license and car insurance required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Criminal background check is required.
  • This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement. Membership is optional.

Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment. Medical, dental, life and long term disability insurance benefits are provided as currently administered under Public Employees Benefits Board; WA State Retirement Plan; vacation and sick leave begin to accrue at the rate of 11.33 hours vacation and 8 hours sick leave per month, upon employment. (For positions that are less than full time, leave accruals will be prorated to the percentage of the position.) This position is designated a bargaining unit position and union membership is not a condition of employment. Leave accruals and usage are governed by the WFSE collective bargaining agreement.
