Warehouse Operator Job Description
Under the supervision of the Facilities Director, the Warehouse Operator manages the receipt, distribution, storage, inventory, and issuance of District supplies, equipment, materials, and miscellaneous items. The role includes maintaining inventory control of warehouse supplies and equipment classified as fixed assets, along with performing related duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive purchase orders from the Purchasing Department and maintain active purchase orders systematically, either manually or via computer.
- Receive, sign for, and inspect shipments to verify conformance to purchase order specifications; prepare receipts and report discrepancies to the purchasing department; reject or accept shipments based on inspection results.
- Schedule, package, load, unload, and deliver supplies and equipment; assemble non-technical equipment and furniture; coordinate emergency and special deliveries; prepare unwanted or defective goods for return.
- Prepare fixed asset forms, affix inventory control decals, and maintain fixed asset and property records using a computer.
- Store, maintain, and rotate office and custodial supplies; fill orders, issue supplies, maintain stock inventory, and perform annual physical inventories.
- Coordinate with District employees, vendors, and transportation services regarding special orders and shipments; resolve related issues with purchasing and accounts payable departments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse environment; arrange stock to optimize space utilization.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and computer terminals to facilitate warehouse operations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least one year of storekeeping and delivery experience. A valid California driver's license is required.
