Job summary

Applitrack is seeking a Warehouse Operator to assist in receiving, storing, issuing and delivering equipment, while maintaining inventory control and records in the District warehouse.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a Class C license, and at least two years' delivery/inventory experience, plus ability to operate tools, forklift, and light trucks in a safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Texas driver's license (Class C).
  • Ability to operate hand tools and mechanical equipment, including a forklift.
  • Ability to read supply requisitions and perform basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to operate light truck.
  • Two years' experience with deliveries and inventory control procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Verify accuracy of shipments by counting, or measuring items and comparing with packing slip.
  • Open crates and inspect shipments for damage and defects.
  • Move inventory manually or with forklift, pallet jack, handcart.
  • Sort and store items per procedures.
  • Take physical counts of inventory and requisition supplies as needed.
  • Read and fill stock requisitions; drive to locations to deliver materials.

Job Title: Warehouse Operator Wage/Hour Status: Hourly

Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor Pay Grade: Manual Grade 3

Primary Purpose:

Assist in receiving, storing, issuing and delivering of equipment, tools, and supplies, maintaining inventory control, and doing the required recordkeeping in the District warehouse.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED

Valid Texas driver's license (Class C)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to operate hand tools and mechanical equipment, including a forklift.

Ability to read supply requisitions and perform basic arithmetic.

Ability to operate light truck.

Experience:

Two years' experience with deliveries and inventory control procedures

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Receiving
  • Verify accuracy of shipments by counting, or measuring items and comparing size, weight, description, and code numbers with information on packing slip, record any discrepancies or damage.
  • Open crates and other containers using hand tools to unpack items received. Inspect shipments for damage and defects.
  • Move inventory to various locations manually and by operating mechanical equipment, including fork lift, pallet jack, and handcart.
  • Sort and store items according to established procedures.
  • Take physical counts periodically of the inventory.
  • Requisition additional supplies from purchasing department as needed.
  • Maintain custody receipts for items being repaired and loaned out temporarily.
Distribution
  • Read and fill requisitions for stock items. Verify accuracy of orders pulled.
  • Drive truck to various locations to deliver materials. Obtain authorized signature for supplies requested.
  • Load and unload delivery truck by hand or by use of hand truck.
Safety
  • Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles according to prescribed safety procedures.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, carrying, etc.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Equipment Used:

Hand tools, forklift, ladder, dolly, pallet jack, handtruck, and light truck (less than 26,000 lbs.).

Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching; heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and inside; work around machinery with moving parts; work around moving objects or vehicles; work on ladders and scaffolding. Exposure to dampness and humidity and slippery or uneven walking surfaces.
