Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum of one-year supervisory experience in USPS-related environments (presort/mailroom).
• Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in production/mailing environments.
• Strong knowledge of MS Excel and/or MS Access with basic knowledge of MS Word, internet and email.

Responsibilities

• Organize mail flow on the production floor by assigning workers and assessing volumes to meet postal deadlines.
• Oversee production workers on designated shift.
• Interview, hire, train, appraise, and discipline employees; address complaints and solve problems.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities per company policies and laws.
• Oversee quality function throughout the production area.
• Ensure adherence to TQM processes and USPS regulations.
• Assist Operations Manager with USPS/internal reports and job costing reports.
• Ensure clear communication between shifts.
• Suggest improvements to equipment use, working conditions and employee motivation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Pitney Bowes is now hiring for a Warehouse Operations Supervisor in our Indianapolis, IN Presort facility. Join our team and earn $61,000 – $64,000/annually + 6% field bonus, with the actual pay dependent on your skills and experience as they relate to the job requirements and the location where you will be performing the job. Schedule: Monday - Friday 10:30 P.M. - 7:00 A.M. As part of our commitment to a flexible work schedule, this role does not have a set amount of vacation per year.

You Will

• Under direction from the Operations Manager or Assistant Operations Manager, organizes the mail flow on the production floor by assigning workers and assessing volumes and type of mail based on current staffing levels to meet postal deadlines.
• Responsible for overseeing the production workers on designated shift.
• Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and solving problems.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
• Oversees quality function throughout the production area.
• Assures TQM (Total Quality Management) processes and procedures are followed at all times.
• Assists Operations Manager in completing required USPS and internal reports, job costing reports and application of all USPS postal regulations.
• Assures clear and concise communication of pertinent information between shifts.
• Offers suggestions regarding increasing efficiency of use of equipment, working conditions, and motivation of employees.
• Other duties as assigned.

Your Background

• Minimum of one-year supervisory experience in any one of the following areas where familiarity of USPS requirements and/or regulations are applied (presort, mailroom, associated industries)
• Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in a production or mailing industry environment
• Strong knowledge of MS Excel and/or MS Access along with basic knowledge of MS Word, internet, and email
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, or current maximum allowed by your State.
• Walk, stand, stoop, and bend 80% of the time with or without accommodation
• Based on operational needs must be willing and able to work as needed, including weekends, holidays, days off and/or a different shift with limited or no advance notice

For completing this work, Presort Services receives discounted postage rates. By performing this sorting work on behalf of our clients, we are able to share a portion of that discount with them.
