ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a skilled Operations Manager to oversee the operations at our Middleboro, MA Distribution Center. The ideal candidate will play a key role in developing and executing the strategic objectives for the Distribution Center. This position will be responsible for managing all operational processes, including planning, organizing, and overseeing receiving, inventory, and shipping functions to ensure smooth and efficient operations while meeting customer demands. The Operations Manager will lead and direct DC activities to meet business goals through strong leadership, cost management, productivity enhancement, risk mitigation, and ensuring compliance with strategic standards.

SCHEDULE

Monday - Friday, Full Time, Exempt

ONSITE: Middleboro, MA

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Delegate projects and tasks within your area of responsibility to ensure optimal execution.
  • Lead the hiring, training, evaluation, and development of management-level team members.
  • Develop and implement operating strategies to support future growth, enhance quality, and reduce operating costs.
  • Champion and maintain a safe working environment for all employees, promoting a culture of safety.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, as well as federal, state, and local OSHA regulations.
  • Oversee and direct significant facility changes upon corporate office approval.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication between the facility and corporate office.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the local management and leadership team to achieve business goals.
  • Establish and uphold local standards, measurement tools, and processes to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Drive the implementation of new technologies and systems to improve operations.
  • Ensure customer expectations, particularly for high-demand wholesale clients, are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Participate in cross-functional and cross-facility initiatives to drive process improvements.
  • Ensure timely upkeep and repair of facility equipment to maintain operational continuity.
  • Collaborate with other departments to proactively resolve operational issues.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures to maintain consistency and accountability across operations.
  • Encourage a culture of teamwork, discipline, and strong work ethic among employees.
  • Promote and enforce strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) throughout warehouse functions.
  • Provide support as a valued member of the broader Distribution team, assisting in other areas as needed.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience managing a fast-paced Distribution Center, ideally with expertise in same-day fulfillment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work a dynamic schedule based on operational needs.
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building abilities, with a focus on creating a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of warehouse and material handling equipment.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and control operations efficiently.
  • A successful track record in receiving, warehousing, inventory control, and shipping practices.
  • Experience with or exposure to distribution-related technology and automation, including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Radio Frequency (RF) systems, and other computer-based tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic email systems/utilities.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse safety protocols, with the ability to implement and enforce safety procedures effectively.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative and harmonious work environment.
  • A customer-centric approach, ensuring service excellence.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills to support data-driven decision-making.

PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

Must be able to wear proper safety equipment (safety toe shoes, bump caps and safety vest). PPE is company-provided with a stipend on safety-toe shoes.

Physical Demands

The role will involve both office tasks and time on the warehouse floor, which may require standing and walking for over 8 hours a day. The position also involves operating a stock chaser to navigate the warehouse. Moderate hand-eye coordination, as well as near and far vision and hearing, are necessary for the role.

Working Conditions:

The job will be performed entirely in a warehouse where conditions can range from warm to cool. The job will be performed in a shared office. Will work around warehouse machines and equipment with a moderate level of noise.
