SUMMARY

The Warehouse Operations Lead is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership, coordination, and support for warehouse operations to ensure materials, products, and equipment are received, stored, organized, and distributed accurately and efficiently. This position works closely with Warehouse Management, Supply Chain, Production, Purchasing, Shipping, Receiving, and other departments to support operational requirements and maintain an effective flow of materials throughout the organization.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Warehouse Leadership & Daily Operations
  • Provide day-to-day direction, coordination, and support to warehouse employees to ensure daily activities are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Assist management with assigning and prioritizing daily warehouse activities based on production requirements, shipping schedules, receiving needs, inventory priorities, and overall business demands.
  • Serve as a primary resource for warehouse employees when addressing operational questions, material issues, or process-related concerns.
  • Monitor daily warehouse activities and ensure work is progressing according to established priorities and schedules.
  • Lead by example by demonstrating professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with coordinating staffing and workload to ensure appropriate coverage of receiving, stocking, material movement, picking, staging, shipping, and other warehouse activities.
  • Communicate changes in priorities, schedules, procedures, and operational requirements to warehouse employees.
  • Identify operational issues that may impact production, shipping, receiving, inventory accuracy, or customer commitments and communicate them to management.
  • Assist in resolving day-to-day warehouse issues and elevate matters requiring management involvement.
Requirements
Material Handling & Inventory Management
  • Coordinate the accurate and timely movement of materials, components, finished goods, and other inventory throughout the facility.
  • Ensure materials are properly received, identified, labeled, stored, staged, and issued in accordance with established procedures.
  • Monitor inventory locations and warehouse organization to ensure materials are readily identifiable and accessible.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within the applicable ERP/MRP or warehouse management system.
  • Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, inventory audits, and reconciliation of inventory discrepancies.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and work with appropriate departments to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure materials are properly protected and stored to prevent damage, loss, deterioration, or misidentification.
  • Coordinate material staging and movement to support production schedules and minimize operational delays.
  • Monitor obsolete, excess, damaged, or nonconforming materials and coordinate appropriate disposition with management and applicable departments.
Receiving & Shipping
  • Assist with coordinating inbound and outbound material flow to ensure shipments and receipts are processed accurately and efficiently.
  • Verify received materials against purchase orders, packing slips, and other applicable documentation.
  • Ensure incoming materials are properly identified and routed to the appropriate storage location or department.
  • Assist with preparing, staging, packaging, and loading outbound shipments in accordance with customer and company requirements.
  • Ensure shipping documentation, labels, quantities, and material identification are accurate prior to shipment.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Supply Chain, Production, and other departments to resolve receiving and shipping discrepancies.
  • Assist in monitoring urgent, priority, or time-sensitive shipments and ensure appropriate communication and follow-up.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or leadership experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
EXPERIENCE
  • Three or more years of experience in warehouse operations, materials management, logistics, manufacturing, shipping/receiving, or a related field preferred.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Demonstrated ability to provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and support to warehouse employees.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple operational requirements and changing business needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory and transaction accuracy.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate material flow and warehouse activities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, and cross-functional departments.
  • Ability to provide clear direction and hold employees accountable to established processes and expectations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across departments.
  • Ability to identify potential operational problems and proactively address them before they impact production or customer requirements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is sedentary, requiring extended periods of sitting or standing to perform the work. There may be some infrequent movement from area-to-area to transport items weighing no more than 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the primary duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to general office environment. Regular overnight travel may be required; work outside normal business hours is required from time to time.
