Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a Material Handler in California to ensure accurate inventory control and safe handling of materials in a warehouse and manufacturing setting. You will work closely with production and shipping teams to move, store, and crate materials for on-time delivery.

The role emphasizes safe forklift operation, accurate order staging, and continuous improvement while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of six (6) months of experience in manufacturing, distribution, materials handling, or inventory control required.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklifts and other motorized material-handling equipment in accordance with company policies and training.
• Perform accurate order picking, staging, loading, and unloading of materials for production and shipment.
• Ensure proper placement, storage, and rotation of inventory to maintain inventory accuracy and material integrity.
• Build quality crates and carefully load materials to prevent damage during storage and transportation.
• Stage materials in preparation for shipment and production use.
• Unload and load trailers and flatbeds using appropriate equipment and safe work practices.
• Set up materials and racks to support production needs.
• Perform daily preventive maintenance and safety inspections on forklifts and material-handling equipment.
• Change batteries and gas tanks on forklifts and report equipment maintenance or safety concerns.
• Follow established housekeeping and cleanup standards.
• Identify material, equipment, or safety issues and communicate concerns promptly.
• Assist with training and supporting co-workers as assigned.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to safety, quality, efficiency, and standard work.
• Support employee engagement initiatives and a respectful workplace.
• Perform other job-related duties consistent with training, experience, and business needs, in compliance with applicable labor and safety laws.
