Job summary

AMI Metals, Inc. is a leading supplier of aircraft-quality raw materials for aerospace. The role involves preparing orders for shipping, packing materials, and assisting production in a fast-paced environment.

You will operate basic packing tools, perform quality checks, and ensure accurate labeling and records. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, good reading and math skills, and a willingness to work irregular hours.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED is required; forklift certification preferred.
• Language: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Math: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
• Reasoning: Follow detailed but not complex written or oral instructions.
• Physical: Regularly lift up to 50 pounds as part of duties.
• Certificates: Forklift Certification preferred.
• Other: Ability to work irregular hours.

Responsibilities

• Prepare customer orders for shipping and assist production as needed.
• Build skids or boxes for packing and shipping orders.
• Use crosscut saw, miter saw, nail gun, staple gun and banding tools as required.
• Follow AMI packing and preservation policies and procedures.
• Perform quality inspections to ensure 100% quality standards.
• Label shipments as required and maintain shipping records.
• Keep work area clean and maintain equipment.
• Adhere to safety and quality policies and participate in Continuous Improvement activities.
• Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Function in the Job

Job Function

Prepares customer orders for shipping and helping with production by performing the following essential duties.

Essential Duties

• Builds skids or boxes for packing and shipping of all orders.
• Uses crosscut saw, miter saw, nail gun, staple gun and banding equipment as needed.
• Follows AMI packing and preservation policies and procedures.
• Performs quality inspections on orders to maintain 100% quality standards.
• Marks all shipments in accordance with customer and AMI procedures and requirements.
• Properly stencils shipping information as required.
• Provides maintenance and keeps records of all equipment assigned.
• Maintains clean work area.
• Follows all company safety and quality policies and procedures.
• Participates in TQM and SPC meetings.
• May require lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.

• LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• REASONING ABILITY: Carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• CERTIFICATES: Forklift Certification, Preferred.
• OTHER ABILITIES: Ability to work irregular hours.
