This role is a critical component of our warehouse operations located in Morgan City, LA, and plays a key role in the effective management of warehouse materials. This is a Full-Time position and requires candidates who are eager to work in a dynamic, non-remote, on-site environment.As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for the efficient handling and movement of materials within the facility. This role involves various tasks such as loading, unloading, storing, and distributing materials. It is designed for individuals who are able to handle physical demands and are meticulous in maintaining accurate records and inventory control. This position mandates adherence to strict safety protocols and the ability to work in various environmental conditions. Commitment to a standard work schedule of Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with the potential need for overtime and participation in an on-call rotation covering nights, weekends, and holidays is required.Duties and ResponsibilitiesSafely and efficiently load, unload, move, and store materials within the warehouse.Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records, including tracking and reporting discrepancies.Ensure an organized workspace by picking, packing, and preparing inventory, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Examine contents and compare them with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify the accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipments.Properly create and maintain all shipping data to ensure accurate records.Select appropriate shipping methods based on the nature of the items and delivery requirements.Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as needed.Use work devices, such as hand trucks and sorting bins, to deliver or route materials to various departments.Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.Work closely with team members and other departments to ensure seamless operations.Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as required to support organizational objectives.RequirementsHigh School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or equivalent experience in a related field.Being part of an on-call rotation is necessary, covering nights, weekends, and holidays.Proficient in handling multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-energy environment and willing to embrace new challenges.Excellent detail orientation and organizational abilities.Proficient in both independent and team-oriented tasks.Effective communication skills; verbal and written.Essential computer capabilities for internal management systems.Competent in lifting and shifting heavy objects.
