Job summary

Acme Construction Supply Inc. in Portland, OR is seeking a dependable Material Handler to fulfill orders, organize inventory, and load/unload trucks in a busy warehouse.

The role requires forklift operation, accuracy with inventory, and teamwork while adhering to safety policies. Expect a Monday–Friday schedule with a 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. shift and a $20/hour base rate plus a monthly incentive after 90 days.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience in material handling, warehousing, or logistics preferred.
• Experience with RF devices is a plus.
• Basic understanding of inventory systems and order processing is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with forklift and ability to maintain forklift certification.

Responsibilities

• Locate material and pull orders using RF/warehouse procedures.
• Unload products using forklift and hand loading; put away in designated areas.
• Check in incoming products; ensure deliveries match purchase orders.
• Aim for high accuracy in order pulling and inventory control.
• Prepare products for staging, including labeling, palletizing, and wrapping.

Hourly Rate: $20/hour + Monthly incentive bonus after 90 days of employment.Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.Summary: The Material Handler is primarily responsible for fulfilling orders, organizing and maintaining existing inventory, loading and unloading delivery trucks, putting away stock and being a dependable and reliable team player.Responsibilities: DutiesLocates material and pulls orders using established RF/warehouse procedures to fulfill orders;Responsible for unloading product (using both a forklift and hand loading) and putting away product accurately to designated areas within the warehouse;Checks in any incoming product using established RF/warehouse procedures for receiving, ensuring deliveries match the company purchase order;Meets or exceeds established goals for order pulling accuracy and inventory accuracy;Performs any necessary activities to get products ready for staging such as accurate labeling, palletizing and/or wrapping ;Preps and assembles products as needed for custom non stock orders;Safely and efficiently operates equipment and machinery (defined by position) such as a forklift, pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment;Assists in maintaining the warehouse in an orderly and clean state, and complies with all company safety policies and procedures;Assists with will-call service by helping load customer orders, or unloads material that is being returned using branch procedures and protocols;Assists with "kitting" related duties which include but are not limited to: Building transfers or work orders for kitting as specified by the customer, labeling material, assist with customized packaging solutions, etc.May assist with conducting cycle counts as needed;Collaborates with Warehouse Management and team members to optimize workflowParticipates in any relevant material handling training as assigned by the Company;Performs other related duties within the warehouse as assigned by Management.Adheres to all company policies, procedures and safety regulations.Skills: Technical Qualifications/ExperienceA minimum of one year experience in a similar position is preferred;Previous experience in material handling, warehousing or logistics is a plus;Experience with RF devices is a plus;Basic understanding of inventory systems and order processing is a plus;Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment;Experience with forklift and ability to maintain forklift certification;Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;Basic math and reading skills (in English) to interpret work orders, inventory labels, and safety information;Good communication skills and a positive attitude.Physical RequirementsThe employee is regularly required to sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel computer equipment; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; use hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects; stand, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl;May be required to move or traverse considerable distances in the facility during the course of a workday;Must have the physical abilities to perform essential warehouse tasks;Must have good physical fitness with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. to a height of 3-4 feet and load product into trucks;Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time;Ability to ascend/descend a ladder to pull or put away product from shelving and racking;Ability to safely operate a dolly, pallet jack and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies.Working Conditions:Warehouse setting with exposure to varying temperatures and conditions;Fast paced environment with frequent physical activity;Safety PPE such as gloves, safety glasses and safety toed boots are required.
