Job summary

Greenberg Fruit Company in Omaha, Nebraska, is seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to lead day-to-day operations at our central distribution hub. You will oversee inventory, staffing, safety, and process improvements with a focus on accuracy and on-time delivery.

The role requires supervisory experience in a warehouse setting, proficiency with ERP/CRM systems (Produce Pro) and Excel, and strong communication with buyers, sales, and customer service.

Qualifications

• Experience in Produce Distribution industry a plus.
• Proficient in CRM and ERP systems (Produce Pro) and Excel.
• Strong English communication; bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

Greenberg Fruit Company has been distributing fresh fruits and vegetables throughout Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa since 1936. Greenberg Fruit Company was the vision of Elmer Greenberg who started the business in a warehouse on the corner of 11th and Howard in Omaha's historic Old Market. Elmer handed control of the business to his son Don in the 1950s. Greenberg Fruit was a fixture in the Old Market until moving to the current location of 9705 I Street in 1973. Although 9705 I Street was considered a West Omaha location in the early seventies, the business is now centrally located to conveniently serve all of Omaha and Lincoln and is within one mile of Interstate 80 providing easy access to all points East, West, North and South.

Essential Functions:

• Manage the day-to-day warehouse functions and oversee operations.
• Recruit, develop, manage, and train employees to ensure all SOPs are being followed and all GWP's.
• Monitor and adjust warehouse operations, with continuous improvements based on scheduling needs and seasonality.
• Help promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale.
• Ensure the company's operational procedures, policies, and standards are followed.
• Oversee closely all inventory functions and have full understanding of the warehouse selection process and inventory cycle counts, using WMS.
• Ensure the warehouse sanitation team follows all cleaning procedures and maintains a clean and orderly facility.
• Coordinates efforts with the Food safety department to aid in training, conducting associate observations, up-dating preferred work methods, conducting accident investigations to determine root causes and routine safety inspections.
• Maintain close and consistent communication with buyers, sales staff, and customer service, to ensure alignment on inventory needs, order fulfillment, and operational priorities.
• Ensures contingency systems/practices/protocols are in place to eliminate business disruption.
• Understands what drives an effective safety culture and actively participates in the Company's mission to make decisions that positively impact the safety of our team.
• Demonstrate expertise in proper palletizing techniques, including stacking, weight distribution, and securing product to ensure safe, efficient, and damage-free transport and storage.
• Review loading assignments with routing, to ensure routes are streamlined and balanced based on delivery expectations.
• Familiar with the operation of unloading equipment (i.e. lift-gates, ramps, 2-wheel handcarts).
• Oversee inventory control, warehouse flow to optimize resources and minimize waste and or damage, mis picks, errors and ensure correct receiving practices are being followed.
• Oversee day-to-day operations, to ensure smooth and efficient workflow, including managing fleet, material handling equipment - MHE, employees and building appearance.
• Support repack operation and work in collaboration with repack management to optimize production and staffing.
• Oversee Fresh cut operation to ensure properly staffed, production goals are met, correct record keeping is taking place to ensure proper yields are being recorded and finished product is correctly added into inventory.
• Manage ripening rooms and work with team on best practices.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience in a warehouse environment with preferred experience in a supervisory capacity
• Transportation or Warehousing experience in Produce Distribution industry a plus
• Proficient PC skills in CRM and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems- Produce Pro, Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), and common E Mail systems.
• Must be able to read, speak, and write English satisfactorily, bilingual a plus

Compensation:

• $50,000 - $80,000/year + Bonus structure (based on experience)

Physical Demands:

• Occasionally lift up to 50lbs
• Stand or sit for long periods of time
• Work in cold and wet cooler conditions for extended periods of time
• Ability to operate any MHE when needed to load trucks, offload trucks, replenish locations, and perform put aways
