The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of the NJ warehouse, overseeing Receiving, Quality Control, Inventory Management, Outbound Fulfillment, and Warehouse Administration. This role ensures warehouse operations are safe, efficient, and compliant with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), while achieving operational KPIs related to inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for developing warehouse personnel, optimizing workflows, controlling operating costs, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that support the company’s growth.
Key Responsibilities
- -Warehouse Operations Management
- 1.Oversee daily warehouse operations including Receiving, Quality Control, Inventory, Order Picking, Shipping, and Warehouse Administration.
- 2.Ensure daily operations are executed according to company SOPs and operational standards.
- 3.Monitor workflow and allocate labor resources to meet daily operational priorities.
- 4.Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse environment using 5S principles.
- 1.Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate warehouse employees.
- 2.Conduct regular performance reviews and establish performance improvement plans when necessary.
- 3.Schedule staff to meet operational demands while controlling labor costs.
- 4.Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- 5.Conduct daily start-up meetings to communicate priorities, KPIs, and safety reminders.
- -Inventory Management
- 1.Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation processes.
- 2.Monitor inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- 3.Supervise inventory transfers, adjustments, and stock movements within the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- 4.Coordinate annual physical inventory counts.
- -Receiving & Outbound Performance
- 1.Ensure inbound shipments are received accurately and processed on schedule.
- 2.Monitor outbound fulfillment to achieve On-Time Delivery (OTD) goals.
- 3.Resolve operational bottlenecks impacting receiving, picking, packing, or shipping performance.
- 4.Coordinate closely with purchasing, customer service, and logistics teams.
- -Quality Control & Returns
- 1.Ensure returned merchandise is inspected and classified according to Return SOPs.
- 2.Monitor quality trends and implement corrective actions to reduce product damage and return rates.
- 3.Review recurring supplier quality issues and coordinate resolution with internal stakeholders.
- -Safety & Compliance
- 1.Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- 2.Conduct regular warehouse safety inspections and safety training.
- 3.Investigate workplace incidents and implement preventive measures.
- 4.Ensure equipment inspections and maintenance schedules are completed.
- -KPI & Performance Management
- 1.Monitor and analyze warehouse KPIs (Inventory Accuracy/Receiving Accuracy/Order Picking Accuracy/On-Time Delivery (OTD)/Order Cycle Time/Return Processing Time/Labor Productivity/Warehouse Capacity Utilization
- 2.Prepare weekly and monthly operational reports for senior management.
- 3.Identify trends and implement process improvements to improve operational efficiency.
- -Process Improvement
- 1.Evaluate warehouse workflows and recommend improvements to increase productivity and reduce costs.
- 2.Lead implementation of new warehouse procedures, technology, and automation initiatives.
- 3.Support continuous improvement projects using Lean principles and best practices.
- -Cross-Functional Collaboration
- 1.Partner with Operations, Customer Service, Purchasing, Transportation, Finance, and Sales teams to ensure smooth execution of business operations.
- 2.Coordinate with White Glove Delivery Operations regarding inventory availability and delivery readiness.
- 3.Support company initiatives and strategic projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 1.Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 2.5+ years of warehouse or distribution center experience.
- 3.2+ years of warehouse leadership or management experience.
- 4.Strong knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- 5.Experience managing inventory control, receiving, fulfillment, and warehouse operations.
- 6.Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
- 7.Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- 8.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- 9.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk the warehouse floor for extended periods.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work in varying warehouse temperatures and conditions.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing stairs.
Occasional operation of warehouse equipment after proper certification.
