The Warehouse Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations and continuous improvement of TSI’s warehouse. This position is accountable for productivity, inventory accuracy, workforce effectiveness, facility organization, safety and service.
In addition to ensuring strong daily execution, the Warehouse Manager will proactively identify and implement improvements in warehouse layout, material flow, standard work, technology utilization, inventory controls, and employee development. The role will establish operating metrics, use data to identify opportunities, and build scalable processes that support TSI’s continued growth.
Success in this role requires a highly visible, hands‑on leader who can run the operation, identify problems before they become issues, and independently drive improvements from identification through implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all day‑to‑day warehouse operations, including receiving, put‑away, replenishment, picking, staging, shipping, loading, and delivery coordination, with accountability for safety, service, accuracy, productivity, and cost.
- Maintain a strong on‑floor leadership presence, setting clear expectations and building a culture of accountability, urgency, safety, customer service, and continuous improvement.
- Continuously evaluate and improve warehouse layout, product flow, slotting, staging, space utilization, 5S, and facility organization to improve safety, capacity, productivity, and service.
- Develop, implement, and maintain standard work and SOPs for core warehouse processes; proactively identify operational bottlenecks and independently drive improvements through implementation and measurable results.
- Establish, monitor, and communicate warehouse KPIs and performance scorecards, including inventory and order accuracy, productivity, service levels, safety, and labor efficiency; use results to identify performance gaps and drive corrective actions.
- Champion effective operational utilization and adoption of Infor SX/CSD, TWL, RF/scanning, and other warehouse technologies; partner with IT to improve processes, automation, data visibility, and system capabilities.
- Maintain accountability for warehouse inventory execution and accuracy, including cycle counts, bin accuracy, put‑away discipline, replenishment execution, shrinkage investigation, and physical inventory controls; partner closely with Inventory Planning on broader inventory initiatives.
- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse supervisors and employees, establishing measurable expectations, providing regular feedback, building cross‑training and succession plans, and strengthening overall team capability.
- Regularly assess staffing, organizational structure, labor utilization, and workforce requirements to ensure resources are aligned with operational needs while effectively managing overtime and labor costs.
- Partner effectively with Inventory Planning, Inside Sales, Purchasing, IT, Finance, and other departments to resolve issues, improve customer service, support company initiatives, and build scalable warehouse processes that support TSI's continued growth.
Qualifications- Minimum 5 years of progressive warehouse/distribution experience, including demonstrated leadership responsibility.
- Wholesale distribution experience strongly preferred; HVAC or industrial distribution experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated track record of identifying, implementing, and sustaining measurable warehouse operational improvements, rather than simply maintaining an existing operation.
- Experience establishing and using warehouse KPIs and performance scorecards to drive accountability and operational improvement.
- Experience with continuous improvement, warehouse layout/flow, slotting, inventory controls, and standardized work.
- Experience with ERP/WMS and RF technology; Infor SX/CSD experience is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant distribution leadership experience.
Leadership Attributes- Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency, ownership, and accountability.
- Proactively identifies problems, develops solutions, and drives them through completion without requiring significant day‑to‑day direction.
- Clear, direct communicator with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization and hold constructive, sometimes difficult, conversations when needed.
- Comfortable challenging existing processes and driving change through implementation.
- Balances day‑to‑day execution with longer‑term operational improvement.
- Uses data, observation, and root‑cause analysis to make sound operational decisions.
- Hands‑on leader who is comfortable spending significant time on the warehouse floor.
- Customer‑focused while understanding the importance of productivity and cost control.
