Overview

Position Overview: The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for directing and overseeing the safety and work of dry warehouse and freezer associates and work with the Logistics Manager regarding the daily freight schedule based on customer and inventory needs. The Warehouse Manager is responsible for managing inventory cycle counts, turnover rates and directing staff to accurately report data.

Responsibilities
  • Supervises, provides oversight and coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment.
  • Consciously creates a workplace culture that is consistent with the organization’s core values, mission and vision.
  • Analyzes shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Oversees all work schedules and work being done in the department.
  • Maintains communication with trucking and other shipping companies for efficient and timely pickups.
  • Coaches and develops staff and provides performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards and disciplinary action.
  • Oversees accuracy and maintenance of inventory cycle counts.
  • Notifies purchasing to order raw materials as needed.
  • Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded boxcars and truck doors.
  • Develops, directs, and manages shipping & receiving personnel and trains them to properly perform their functions and how to utilize all equipment and tools.
  • Communicates with order process delivery, sales representatives and customers via outbound calls.
  • May operate forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
General Safety And Food Safety/Quality Requirements/Responsibilities
  • Adheres to all General Safety and Food Safety/Quality SOPs and GMPs.
  • Accurately completes required Safety and Food Safety & Quality reports and records.
  • Communicates any known or suspected Food Safety/Quality issues to the Q.A. Manager and Department Manager.
  • Communicates any known or suspected Safety issues or concerns to Department Manager and Safety representative.
  • Responsible for reporting any food safety concerns or tampering with product.
  • Attends all General Safety and Food Safety/Quality training sessions.
  • Mentors staff for implementation of General Safety and Food Safety/Quality procedures.

Physical Demands: Performing the duties of this job will require that the employee stand, sit, walk, and occasionally lift material up to 25 pounds. Duties require twisting, turning, reaching, pushing and pulling, use of hands and fingers, handling or feeling objects, use of tools or controls; reaching with hands and arms; climbing stairs, balancing; stooping, kneeling or crouching; talking and hearing.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a general office environment and warehouse/production environment as part of the job requirements where the noise level is usually moderate. As part of the job requirements employee may be exposed to cold temperature environments (-20 degrees) at times. Must be flexible with work schedule that supports a 24-hour production facility. Schedule may include weekends.

  • Able to meet physical demands in work environment as generally described under Physical Requirements.
Education And/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, manufacturing or related field preferred.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of responsible leadership experience or supervisory positions.
  • Prefer 5 years of working experience in warehouse or manufacturing field (Food or Beverage Industry experience is a plus).
