Job description

The Opportunity:

Avantor is seeking a dedicated Warehouse Lead Technician for 2nd shift to support our Avantor Fluid Handling team.

Shift Hours: 3:45 PM to 2:15 AM, Monday - Thursday

This full-time role is based in our Devens, MA warehouse. The Warehouse Lead Technician will work under limited supervision, performing warehouse operations such as loading/unloading trucks, stacking bags, handling products, palletizing, and more. Responsibilities include documenting work, recording inventory data with scanners/computers, and collaborating with peers and management to improve warehouse operations and promote teamwork. The role also involves operating forklifts and hand carts, adhering to safety policies, mentoring less-experienced colleagues, and assisting supervisors without formal supervision.

What we're looking for

1. Education: High school diploma or GED required
2. Experience: At least 3 years in warehousing, preferably in a cGMP manufacturing environment
3. Equipment Skills: Experience with industrial-powered equipment required
4. Inventory Knowledge: Minimum 3 years in inventory management and cycle counting
5. Communication: Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, familiarity with cGMP, SOPs, and Work Instructions
6. Physical Ability: Capable of lifting up to 75 pounds using proper techniques
7. Adaptability: Ability to shift priorities easily
8. Training: External training in hazardous materials shipment preferred
9. Skills: Proficiency in reading, analyzing SOPs, reports, and regulations; writing reports and correspondence; establishing rapport; active listening
10. Mathematical Skills: Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; familiarity with US customary and metric measurements
11. Reasoning Skills: Applying common sense to carry out instructions; problem-solving in standardized situations
12. Additional Skills: Typing, computer operation, organizing, prioritizing, meeting deadlines, using Microsoft Office and company software
13. Tools: Knowledge of PC applications like SAP, Excel, Word, FedEx, UPS

How you will thrive and create an impact

1. Serve as a communication link between supervisors and warehouse staff
2. Lead daily tasks for processing shipments and inbound receipts
3. Oversee labeling, sampling, and inventory documentation
4. Manage storage, picking, packing, and shipping in accordance with SOPs and customer requirements
5. Coordinate and oversee labeling, packaging, and shipment documentation, including international shipments
6. Maintain inventory accuracy through computer systems and cycle counts
7. Train staff on equipment and processes, ensuring safety and compliance
8. Support audits and assist in SOP and Work Instruction writing
9. Maintain a clean, safe warehouse environment, ensuring compliance with cGMPs, SOPs, and Work Instructions
10. Perform duties of a Warehouse Associate as needed
11. Other duties as required

Environmental and Physical Conditions

• Work near mechanical machinery in a loud industrial environment
• Work at heights, in varying temperatures, and possibly exposed to dust, fumes, or gases
• Stand, walk, lift up to 75 pounds, and perform physical activities including bending, stooping, and climbing
