Menzies Aviation in Philadelphia is seeking a Cargo Handler Lead to direct daily loading and unloading operations, supervise cargo handlers, and uphold safety and security policies across the dock.

You will train teammates, ensure forklift operations follow rules, coordinate with departments, and help maintain an orderly work area while meeting airside security requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license with clean record in last 5 years.
  • Minimum six months of related work experience.
  • Forklift certificate preferred, but not required.
  • Able to speak, read, write English proficiently.
  • Able to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Flexible to work varying shifts, including weekends/holidays.
  • Pre-employment drug testing required.
  • Ability to obtain airport and customs badges.

Responsibilities

  • Assign workers to loading, unloading, and staging freight.
  • Lead and train cargo handlers according to policy.
  • Ensure safety rules, forklift operations, and security procedures.
  • Maintain clean and organized dock areas.
  • Coordinate with other departments to resolve service issues.

Role Purpose

Under limited supervision provides day-to-day work directions to cargo handlers andis able toserve as backup to Supervisor, Cargo Operations.

What you will be doing
  • Assign employees to work specific jobs loading, unloading, building up and breaking down freight.
  • Performs new employee introduction to work area, explains rules, uniform policy, warehouse procedures and provides overview of department operations.
  • Trains employees on specific or assigns employees to work with experienced agent.
  • Ensure that employees are fully trained on company policies and procedures including warehouse safety, forklift operation and security procedures.
  • Interface with other departments to ensure that service issues are addressed and/or corrected to ensure quality of service.
  • Maintains as orderly work area, may perform or assign general housekeeping duties including sweeping storage and dock areas.
  • Operates a forklift to transport freight in a safe and efficient manner. May be responsible forfuelingforklifts.
  • Ensures that all company safety rules including dangerous goods handling and awareness are bring adhered to, reports safety hazards and incident to supervisor.
  • Inventories freight to insure proper accounting of cargo.
  • Directly leads Cargo Handlers. Carries out lead responsibilities in accordance with Menzies' polices and applicable laws. Other duties as assigned.
  • Must follow all Security procedures as required.

Pay : $20-$22 per hour based on experience

What we are looking for:

Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must have High School diploma or GED.
  • Must have a current driver license with no violations over the past 5 years.
  • Minimum of six months' experience.
  • Forklift certificate preferred, but not necessary.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English proficiently.
  • Must be able tolift upto 70 lbs.
  • Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment testing including drug testing
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all required Airport and Custom badges/seals.
