Department: LogisticsReports to: Logistics ManagerFLSA Status: HourlySummaryThe Warehouse & Inventory Control Lead is a hands-on ownership role responsible for the accuracy, security, organization, and daily control of warehouse inventory, tools, test equipment, and jobsite material movement. This position serves as the onsite gatekeeper for material entering and leaving the warehouse, maintains timely and accurate SAP transactions, leads routine cycle counts and inventory audits, and ensures company tools are complete, serviceable, and within required calibration. The role partners professionally with Project Management, Logistics, Operations, Purchasing, Finance, and field teams while maintaining consistent onsite warehouse coverage during standard business hours.Primary ResponsibilitiesWarehouse Operations & OrganizationOwn day-to-day warehouse operations including receiving, verification, labeling, put-away, storage, picking, staging, issuing, returns, transfers, surplus, and disposition activities.Maintain clearly defined storage locations, staging zones, quarantine areas, return areas, and project-specific material areas so inventory remains identifiable, traceable, secure, and easy to locate.Maintain a clean, orderly, safe, and audit-ready warehouse using consistent housekeeping and 5S-style organization practices.Ensure warehouse coverage is maintained Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; jobsite deliveries are not a primary responsibility of this position.Inventory Control & Audit OwnershipMaintain accurate physical and system inventory by ensuring material movements are recorded at the time they occur and supported by required documentation.Develop and execute routine cycle-count schedules, monthly spot audits, and formal inventory counts; prioritize high-value, high-usage, and historically problematic items.Research inventory variances, identify root causes, document corrective actions, and escalate recurring process failures or unresolved discrepancies to leadership.Control access to inventory and prevent material from leaving the warehouse without proper project/job identification, authorization, quantity verification, and system transaction.Manage project returns, unused material, surplus, damaged goods, and nonconforming material so each item has a documented disposition and accurate inventory status.Tool, Tester & Equipment ManagementOwn the tool-control process for company tools, testers, ladders, specialty equipment, and related accessories from issuance through return.Maintain an accurate tool register and checkout history, including assigned employee/project, issue date, return date, condition, and current location.Perform routine tool audits for wear and tear, damage, missing parts/accessories, cleanliness, battery condition, and general readiness for field use.Track calibration requirements and due dates for applicable testers and equipment; coordinate calibration, repair, replacement, or service and quarantine items that are expired, damaged, incomplete, or unsafe.Maintain calibration records, service documentation, and tool status so field teams receive complete and ready-to-use equipment.SAP, Documentation & Process ComplianceUse SAP as the system of record for receiving, inventory movements, transfers, issues, returns, adjustments, and other applicable material transactions.Maintain accurate supporting records such as packing slips, transfer documentation, inventory count sheets, tool logs, calibration records, and discrepancy documentation.Follow established inventory, warehouse, and material-control procedures consistently and reinforce process compliance with internal teams.Identify process gaps and recommend practical improvements to increase inventory accuracy, traceability, accountability, and service to the field.Internal Customer Support & CoordinationServe as the primary onsite warehouse contact for Project Managers, Logistics, Operations, Purchasing, Finance, and field leadership regarding inventory availability, material status, staging readiness, returns, and tool availability.Communicate professionally and proactively when requests are incomplete, material is unavailable, documentation is missing, or a process requirement has not been met.Stage and release jobsite materials accurately and on time, coordinating with the designated delivery resource or field pickup plan without sacrificing required warehouse coverage.Support urgent local pickups or deliveries only as an exception when directed and when onsite warehouse coverage is maintained.Knowledge and Skill RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required; associate degree, technical training, or supply chain certification preferred.5+ years of progressively responsible warehouse, inventory control, materials, or tool-management experience; prior experience owning warehouse processes strongly preferred.Hands-on proficiency with SAP inventory/material transactions required, including the discipline to keep physical and system inventory synchronized.Demonstrated experience with cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, variance investigation, receiving, staging, issuing, and returns.Experience managing tools, test equipment, maintenance status, and calibration schedules strongly preferred.Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy; able to identify exceptions and follow them through to resolution.Professional communication and service mindset when working with multiple internal teams, competing priorities, and field facing requests.Strong organization, follow-through, and ownership; comfortable enforcing process requirements respectfully and consistently.Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel or similar tracking/reporting tools.Familiarity with low-voltage infrastructure, fiber/copper products, or data center installation materials preferred but not required.Performance Expectations / Measures of SuccessSustained improvement in inventory accuracy and reduction of unexplained material loss or write-offs.Cycle counts and scheduled audits completed on time with documented variance resolution and corrective actions.All warehouse material movements traceable to the appropriate project, requestor, documentation, and SAP transaction.Tools and testers are locatable, complete, serviceable, and compliant with calibration requirements before issue.Warehouse remains organized, clearly labeled, safe, and ready for inventory or operational audits.Internal teams receive timely, accurate, and professional support while established controls are consistently followed.Working Conditions / Physical RequirementsFull-time, onsite warehouse position with expected coverage Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds regularly and safely move material using carts or pallet jacks.Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and stooping throughout the shift.Manual dexterity for handling tools, equipment, labels, inventory, and packaging materials.Occasional climbing of ladders or stairs and visual acuity to read labels, serial numbers, packing documents, and inventory records.Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required for planned physical inventories or exceptional operational needsDISCLAIMERThis job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
