Job summary

Wanzl North America in Newton, NC is seeking a Warehouse & Inventory Control Manager to provide hands-on leadership for warehouse execution and cycle counting, ensuring safe receiving, storage, picking, staging and shipping. You will develop standard work, train the team, monitor performance with practical metrics, and drive root-cause corrective actions to reduce errors, shortages, and damage.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in warehouse/inventory control with supervisory experience, ERP/WMS

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred for the role.
• Five or more years in warehouse, inventory-control, materials, or manufacturing.
• At least two years in supervisory or management role over hourly staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily warehouse and inventory-control activities with clear priorities and accountability.
• Develop and coach Warehouse Supervisor and staff through performance feedback and corrective action.
• Establish ABC cycle-counting program, investigate discrepancies, and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Ensure accurate system transactions for receiving, putaway, location transfers, picking, staging, shipping, returns, and adjustments.
• Improve picking/packing/loading to reduce wrong-item shipments and damage.
• Collaborate with Quality to investigate complaints and implement corrective measures.
• Maintain 5S, proper labeling, and storage locations throughout warehouse areas.
• Coordinate with Materials, Planning, Purchasing, Production, Quality, Customer Service, and Finance to resolve shortages and shipment issues.
• Develop standard work and training for warehouse processes; ensure understanding and compliance.
• Plan staffing and daily work assignments to meet receiving and shipment needs.
• Monitor performance trends and drive corrective actions using practical metrics.

Position Overview

The Warehouse & Inventory Control Manager provides hands‑on leadership for warehouse execution and physical inventory control. This position is accountable for safe and accurate receiving, storage, picking, staging, and shipping; establishes a sustainable cycle‑counting process; reduces picking errors and shipping damage; and ensures timely corrective action when problems occur. The manager leads through the Warehouse Supervisor while remaining visib le and engaged on the floor.

This position will be located at Plant 1 in Newton, NC.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead daily warehouse and inventory‑control activities, setting clear priorities, standards, and accountability for the team.
• Manage and develop the Warehouse Supervisor and inventory‑control personnel through regular direction, coaching, performance feedback, and appropriate corrective action.
• Establish and sustain an ABC cycle‑counting program, investigate discrepancies, correct root causes, and maintain reliable inventory records.
• Ensure accurate and timely system transactions for receiving, putaway, location transfers, picking, staging, shipping, returns, and inventory adjustments.
• Improve picking, packing, loading, and material‑handling practices to reduce wrong‑item shipments, shortages, and shipping damage.
• Own warehouse‑related corrective actions. Partner with Quality to investigate customer complaints, implement countermeasures, and verify that improvements are sustained.
• Maintain effective storage locations, labeling, material identification, housekeeping, and 5S throughout warehouse areas.
• Coordinate with Materials, Planning, Purchasing, Production, Quality, Customer Service, and Finance to resolve shortages, inventory discrepancies, and shipment issues.
• Develop standard work and training for warehouse and inventory‑control processes; verify employee understanding and compliance.
• Plan staffing and daily work assignments to support receiving, production replenishment, and customer‑shipment requirements.
• Monitor performance trends and lead corrective action using practical metrics and root‑cause problem solving.
• Promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with company safety, quality, and material‑handling requirements.
• Complete other tasks as assigned.

Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree - preferred
• Ability to think logically, develop and implement systems and resolve issues in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
• Five or more years of progressive warehouse, inventory‑control, materials, or manufacturing experience.
• At least two years of supervisory or management experience with responsibility for hourly employees and front‑line leaders.
• Working knowledge of ERP or warehouse‑management systems, inventory transactions, cycle counting, and root‑cause corrective action. SAP and/or Platbricks experience a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to address performance issues, establish standards, and follow through until results are sustained.
