Job summary

Legacy Service Partners is seeking a hands-on Warehouse and Fleet Manager in Chicago, IL. You’ll lead warehouse operations, manage fleet readiness, and oversee inventory, procurement, and safety programs to support field teams and customers.

You will drive continuous improvement, coordinate cross-functionally with service, dispatch, and procurement, and ensure compliance while maintaining a safe and efficient operation.

Responsibilities

About the Role

As the Warehouse and Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing all aspects of warehouse operations, including inventory control, logistics, and equipment management. You will plan, direct, and supervise the programs for acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement, and disposal of fleet vehicles. Your leadership, strategic thinking, and organizational skills will contribute directly to the success of our field teams and the customers they serve.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Warehouse and Fleet Operations: Develop and implement strategies, policies, and procedures for warehouse and fleet management to ensure efficient operations and optimized inventory control.
• Oversee Inventory Control: Manage cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliations to maintain accurate inventory levels. Implement and maintain inventory management systems to track, analyze, and report on stock levels and trends.
• Coordinate Procurement and Forecasting: Partner with procurement and service teams to forecast inventory needs and place purchase orders in a timely manner, ensuring parts and materials are always available for field technicians.
• Optimize Warehouse Layout and Logistics: Maximize space utilization and streamline product storage, retrieval, and fulfillment. Manage receiving, inspection, and storage of incoming shipments, resolving any discrepancies quickly.
• Manage Fleet Maintenance and Readiness: Oversee all fleet vehicles including scheduling preventive maintenance, coordinating repairs, tracking vehicle condition, and ensuring every vehicle is road-ready and compliant.
• Enforce Safety Standards: Implement and enforce safety protocols and best practices across all warehouse operations to maintain a safe environment for all personnel.
• Monitor Equipment and Tools: Track and maintain warehouse equipment and tools, coordinating repairs and preventive maintenance to ensure ongoing availability and functionality.
• Drive Continuous Improvement: Analyze operations regularly, identify inefficiencies, and implement process improvements to increase productivity across warehouse and fleet functions.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with service, dispatch, procurement, and finance teams to ensure seamless coordination, communication, and operational alignment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in warehouse management, fleet management, or a similar leadership role, preferably in a service-oriented industry.
• Proven leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Proficiency in inventory management systems and tools with the ability to analyze and report on inventory data.
• Solid understanding of warehouse operations including inventory control, logistics, and equipment management.
• Familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, or electrical materials and equipment is an asset.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong commitment to safety and maintaining a safe working environment.
• Forklift certification and knowledge of safe forklift operation is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
• Valid drivers license required.

By day 60, you have full ownership of daily warehouse and fleet operations, active improvement initiatives underway, and a clear picture of where the gaps are. By day 90, you are running a reliable, efficient operation that the field team depends on and trusts completely.
