Job summary

Dilling Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Warehouse & Fleet Manager to oversee daily warehouse operations, inventory accuracy, and vehicle maintenance. You will support field teams, streamline processes, and protect company assets.

This role leads a team, coordinates with purchasing and operations, and drives cost control while ensuring safety and organization across the warehouse and fleet.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in warehouse, inventory, fleet, logistics, or operations.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, construction, or home services is preferred.
• Strong organizational and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced service environment.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily warehouse operations, organization, cleanliness, and security.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general service materials.
• Establish and maintain stocking levels; receive, inspect, store incoming materials.
• Coordinate material staging for installations and service work; manage counts and discrepancies.
• Work with purchasing/operations leadership to reduce waste and excess inventory.
• Maintain organized systems for technicians to locate materials quickly.
• Manage fleet of service vans and other vehicles; track maintenance and records.
• Develop preventive maintenance schedules; coordinate repairs and inspections.
• Monitor fleet costs and vehicle policies; ensure safety and professional appearance.
• Lead, train, schedule warehouse personnel; build efficient processes with leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Warehouse & Inventory Management

• Oversee daily warehouse operations, organization, cleanliness, and security.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general service materials.
• Establish and maintain minimum/maximum stocking levels for commonly used parts and supplies.
• Receive, inspect, organize, and properly store incoming materials and equipment.
• Coordinate material staging for installations, service work, and special projects.
• Manage inventory counts, cycle counts, discrepancies, returns, and warranty materials.
• Work with purchasing and operations leadership to reduce unnecessary inventory and material waste.
• Maintain an organized system so technicians can quickly locate and obtain needed materials.
• Monitor technician truck stock and help establish consistent truck inventory standards.
• Maintain appropriate controls for tools, equipment, refrigerant, high-value inventory, and other company assets.

Fleet Management

• Manage the company's fleet of service vans, installation vehicles, trucks, and other company vehicles.
• Maintain accurate records for every vehicle, including mileage, maintenance history, repairs, registrations, inspections, and assignments.
• Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules to minimize breakdowns and vehicle downtime.
• Coordinate repairs, tires, oil changes, inspections, recalls, and other maintenance with approved vendors.
• Monitor vehicle condition and ensure vehicles meet Dilling's standards for safety, cleanliness, organization, and professional appearance.
• Coordinate vehicle assignments, replacements, additions, and removals with leadership.
• Manage vehicle keys, fuel cards, registrations, insurance documentation, and related fleet records.
• Monitor fleet costs and identify opportunities to reduce maintenance, fuel, rental, and repair expenses.
• Coordinate vehicle upfitting, shelving, wraps/graphics, GPS equipment, and other fleet-related installations.
• Help ensure drivers follow company vehicle policies and immediately address reported safety or maintenance concerns.

Leadership & Operational Support

• Lead, train, schedule, and hold accountable warehouse personnel as applicable.
• Build processes that make it easier for technicians and installers to get what they need and get into the field quickly.
• Partner closely with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, dispatch, purchasing, and operations leadership.
• Track warehouse and fleet performance and communicate issues requiring leadership attention.
• Maintain vendor relationships and hold vendors accountable for pricing, quality, and turnaround time.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and eliminate unnecessary downtime.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and professional warehouse environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of warehouse, inventory, fleet, logistics, or operations experience preferred.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• HVAC, plumbing, electrical, construction, or home-services experience strongly preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working with inventory management, fleet management, GPS, and business software.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced service environment.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to develop processes and hold others accountable to them.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to safely lift and move materials and equipment commonly found in a trades warehouse.
