Job summary

CERO Cooperative, Inc. is seeking a reliable Driver Helper to assist our drivers with food waste collection and to keep our warehouse organized. The role is split roughly between route work and warehouse duties, with safety and cleanliness emphasized.

You will ride with drivers on routes, load and unload totes, prepare supplies, and support warehouse operations in a physically demanding environment in Boston. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• At least one year of physical work experience in warehouse, delivery, sanitation, moving, or similar roles.
• Reliable attendance and ability to arrive for early morning shifts.
• Ability to follow directions and work safely.
• Spanish and English bilingual ability is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Driver Helper duties: ride with the driver on collection routes, load/unload 32- and 64-gallon totes, move totes, clean or exchange totes, assist with deliveries, communicate with customers, monitor safety, and complete other route-related tasks.
• Warehouse duties: wash and sanitize totes, sort and organize totes, prepare supplies, load/unload vehicles, keep warehouse clean and organized, inspect totes for repair or replacement, receive and stock deliveries, follow safety procedures.

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time; Schedule: 30-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, generally between 5:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.;

Pay: $21-$22 per hour. Reports To: Operations Manager.

Job Summary

CERO Cooperative is looking for a reliable person to help our drivers collect food waste and help keep our warehouse clean and organized.

The work is expected to be split about evenly between route work and warehouse work. This is only an estimate. The amount of each type of work may change from day to day or week to week based on CERO's needs.

When the employee is not helping a driver, they are required to help with warehouse work.

This is a physical, hands-on job. The employee must be comfortable working around food waste, dirty totes, trucks, water, odors, and changing weather.

Driver Helper Duties

• Ride with the driver on collection routes.
• Help load and unload 32- and 64-gallon food-waste totes.
• Move totes safely to and from customer collection areas.
• Clean or exchange totes at customer locations when needed.
• Help with tote and supply deliveries.
• Communicate respectfully with customers.
• Watch for safety hazards and help the driver operate safely.
• Complete other route-related work assigned by the Operations Manager.

Warehouse Duties

• Wash and sanitize 32- and 64-gallon totes.
• Separate and organize clean, dirty, damaged, and customer-ready totes.
• Prepare totes, BioBags, and other supplies for delivery.
• Load and unload company vehicles.
• Clean and maintain the warehouse, tote-washing area, and equipment.
• Inspect totes and identify those that need repair or replacement.
• Help receive and put away supplies and deliveries.
• Keep work areas safe, clean, and organized.
• Complete other warehouse work assigned by the Operations Manager.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in warehouse, delivery, sanitation, moving, landscaping, waste collection, construction, or similar physical work.
• Reliable attendance and ability to arrive on time for early morning shifts.
• Ability to follow directions and work safely.
• Spanish and English bilingual ability is preferred but not required.

Physical and Working Conditions

• Regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and lift throughout the shift.
• Lift items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
• Safely push or pull heavy totes that may weigh more than 100 pounds.
• Work around moving trucks and mechanical equipment.
• Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, wet conditions, and humidity.
• Work around food waste, odors, fumes, vibration, water, and moderate noise.
• Follow all required safety procedures and use protective equipment.
