CERO Cooperative, Inc., a Boston-based worker-owned cooperative, is seeking a safety-focused Route Driver to operate a 16'–26' box truck on local routes and collect organic waste.

This morning shift runs Monday through Friday from 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM, offering steady hours and the opportunity to become a worker-owner.

You will perform pre- and post-trip inspections, log routes, load waste containers, and maintain professional, courteous service while complying with driving regulations.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Minimum 2 years of experience directly related to commercial driving and route service.
• Ability to pass a background check and DOT drug screening.
• Familiarity with GPS systems and routing apps.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a box truck on designated urban routes to collect organic waste.
• Load and unload food waste containers.
• Conduct daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections (fluids, tires, safety equipment, etc.).
• Follow assigned routes using a routing app and maintain accurate service logs.
• Maintain a courteous demeanor with customers and adhere to all driving laws.
• Perform basic preventative maintenance and report mechanical issues promptly.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, reliable, and experienced in commercial truck operation. This is a physically active role that involves both driving a 16'–26' box truck and manually handling food waste collection containers.

Compensation & Schedule

• Starting Pay: $22.00 – $24.00 per hour
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Responsibilities

• Vehicle Operation: Safely operate a box truck on designated urban routes to collect organic waste.

• Safety: Work involves proximity to moving mechanical parts; strict adherence to safety protocols is required.
