Silgan Containers in Deep River, CT is seeking a professional CDL-A truck driver for full-time warehouse/transport duties. You will operate a commercial vehicle, perform pre/post trip inspections, maintain logs, and comply with DOT and safety policies.

Qualifications include high school diploma or GED, valid CDL-A and DOT medical certification, manual transmission experience, and 1 year tractor trailer driving (2+ preferred). English reading/writing and basic computer use are required.

• Comply with D.O.T regulations, per FMCSR
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures. Report ALL Accidents and Injuries Immediately.
• Assists with other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Required

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

Experience

• Required: 1 Year Tractor Trailer Driving
• Preferred: 2+ Years Tractor Trailer Driving
• SKILLS: Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Proficient with utilization of computers, to include, but not limited to, Microsoft Office applications, Oracle, and handheld scanners.

Required

• Must be able to back into multiple Dock Doors repeatedly.
• Must be able to Drop and Hook repeatedly in all kinds of weather.
• Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision
• Both CDL-A and Medical Certification must be maintained.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds continuously throughout the shift.
• Work involves continuous sitting, standing, walking, lifting, bending, reaching, and twisting.
• Work involves continuous mounting and dismounting from forklift.
• Must have the physical ability to work a 12-hour shift schedule.
• Must have the cognitive ability to work 12-hour shift schedule.
• Must be available to work weekends.
• Must be able to work outside during inclement weather conditions, on occasion.
