Job summary

Theuniversityunion in Lombard, IL is seeking a Warehouse Associate to receive merchandise and fulfill orders in a safe, timely manner. The role includes acting as a back-up driver and safely operating vehicles to transport goods to customer locations.

Responsibilities include using RF scanners for receiving, put-away and picking, unloading inbound shipments, and keeping the warehouse organized. CDL is preferred; forklift certification or ability to obtain one is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older with a Class C license; Class A CDL preferred.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain one.
• Clean driving record.
• Prior warehouse, delivery and forklift experience preferred.
• Ability to pass medical card requirements and hire endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Receive merchandise and fulfill customer orders safely and promptly.
• Back-up driver; operate vans, box trucks, tractor/trailers and other CDL/non-CDL vehicles to transport goods and deliver to customer locations.
• Use RF scanners for receiving, check-in, put away and picking.
• Maintain inventory and ensure merchandise resale value by protecting it from damage.
• Unload and inspect inbound merchandise; assist customers as needed.
• Locate, verify, pull and pick products for orders using RF scanners.
• Maintain clean, safe warehouse and work areas; follow safety guidelines.
• Participate in inventory counts; report vehicle/mechanical issues.
• Complete regulatory and administrative forms and reports relating to vehicle operation.
• All other duties as assigned.

The Warehouse Associate will receive merchandise and fulfill customer orders in a safe and timely manner in the warehouse. This position will act as a back-up driver and safely operate vehicles such as vans, box trucks, tractor/trailers and/or other CDL and non-CDL vehicles to transport goods and ensure the timely delivery and unloading of merchandise to customer locations.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Handle boxes, containers, packages of various weights and sizes.
• Unload and inspect inbound merchandise.
• Utilize RF scanners during product receiving, check-in, put away and picking.
• Maintain merchandise resale value and quality by protecting it from damage.
• Accurately and efficiently locate, verify, pull and pick products and materials for orders, delivery and transfer utilizing RF scanners.
• Maintain warehouse and work areas in clean, orderly and safe condition.
• Participate in taking inventory counts according to guidelines.
• Properly and safely operate (powered industrial) equipment according to safety guidelines
• Ensure company vehicles are in proper working order by reporting mechanical and operational issues.
• Proper completion of regulatory and administrative forms and reports relating to vehicle operation.
• Unload merchandise for customers on local deliveries.
• Report damaged/missing product to supervisor or Branch Manager.
• Provide whatever customer assistance is appropriate under the circumstances and according to company policies.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidate must be organized, detail orientated and accurate and work as part of a team. Must be 21 and have a minimum of Class C drivers license (Class A CDL highly preferred). Candidate must possess a clean driving record and have the ability to become certified in operating a forklift. Ability to obtain a valid medical card and for hire endorsement. Prior warehouse, delivery and forklift experience preferred.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs repetitively for 8 hours
• Ability to operate and navigate commercial delivery vehicle (GVWR 26,000 lbs or more)
• May be required to stand for long periods of time.
• May engage in frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and reaching, pushing and pulling of merchandise, products and materials.
• Consistently follows procedures and adheres to standards
• Must be able to understand and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form and follow directions.
• Must be able to communicate effectively
• Ability to understand product codes and terminology
• Ability to use hand tools to open boxes or containers
• Operate RF scanner
• Operate a forklift
• Ability to meet the attendance standards

Working Conditions:

Due to the open warehouse environment, must be able to work in various indoor climatic conditions including heat, humidity and cold. Maneuvers in small areas and/or around various objects
