Job summary

DSV Air & Sea Inc. is seeking a Forklift Operator in Aurora, IL. You will operate power industrial trucks to move, locate, stack, and count merchandise, while performing receiving, order picking, quality checks, inventory management, and safety tasks.

The role requires a forklift certification and basic computer/WMS skills in a fast-paced warehouse environment. The position runs on a 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM shift with a $21.00 per hour rate.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 6 months experience in a logistics, distribution, or related environment.
  • Ability to operate MHE (material handling equipment).
  • Must be able to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse (mild to moderate extremes).

Responsibilities

  • Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations; input data accurately into WMS.
  • Pull and prepare for shipment, ensuring the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped.
  • Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.
  • Move product from staging and/or storage to production lines and/or staging docks.
  • Keep records and reports to guarantee tight inventory control and security.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, orderly work area and assist in warehouse security.
  • Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product using forklift or other power equipment.
  • Assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as required; work overtime as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Receiving / Put‑Away
  • Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations; input data accurately into WMS.
  • Efficiently stack and store product in appropriate area.
  • Maintain an organized work area.
Order Picking
  • Pull and prepare for shipment, ensuring the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped.
  • Perform picking duties efficiently to meet customer service standards.
  • Prepare freight for operations accurately and in a timely manner as required.
Quality
  • Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.
  • Report quality variances.
Delivery
  • Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage to production lines and/or staging docks.
  • Proper documentation must accompany freight.
Inventory
  • Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee tight inventory control and security.
  • Assist in physical inventories; ensure proper stock rotation.
Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance
  • Maintain a clean, neat, orderly work area and assist in warehouse security.
Equipment Handling
  • Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, drum attachment, or other power equipment.
  • Maintain the facility's equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
  • Inspect the forklift or other equipment daily and perform minor maintenance.
  • Operate all equipment safely and efficiently following prescribed work methods.
  • Maintain an active forklift certification.
Maintenance
  • Assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
Other Duties (Site Specific)
  • Change fuel tanks on forklifts as needed; participate in physical inventories.
  • Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking as required.
  • Repair pallets, trailers, and truck bays as requested.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Work overtime as dictated by business, whether mandatory or voluntary.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations
  • Successful completion of a forklift training program.

  • English (reading, writing, verbal).
Mathematical Skills
  • Basic to intermediate level for verifying quantities, counting inventory, and performing related duties.

  • Strong attention to detail; accurate and timely job completion.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance.
  • Adaptable to change in a fast‑paced work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–2 years experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
  • 1–2 years forklift experience.
  • Current or prior MHE certification.
Physical Demands
  • Occasional handling/fingering, sitting.
  • Frequent bending.
  • Constant walking and standing.
  • Ability to lift/carry and push/pull 21–50 pounds; reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel.
Work Environment

The work environment is generally low to moderate noise. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or caustic chemicals is rare.
