Job description

Job Title: Warehouse/Counter Service

Full Time / Non-Exempt

Location: Richmond, VA (Henrico County)

Reports To: Branch Manager

General Summary

This position involves various branch operations including answering phones, servicing customers, generating invoices using computers, and loading items into customer vehicles. The role requires the safe operation of all branch material handling equipment, accurate order pulling, loading, and timely delivery to customers.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Provide fast and friendly customer service following "Customer First" standards, in person or over the phone.
  2. Greet customers positively as they enter the branch.
  3. Meet or exceed customer commitments and expectations.
  4. Pull customer orders, load into delivery trucks or customer vehicles, or stage for pickup, using safe handling procedures.
  5. Complete accurate paperwork including invoices, C.O.D.s, special orders, vendor purchase orders, and shipping/receiving documents.
  6. Ensure all outgoing products are billed, collect payments following money handling procedures.
  7. Process customer returns and warranties promptly on receipt.
  8. Unload deliveries using manual or equipment-assisted methods and stock appropriately.
  9. Operate forklifts or other material handling equipment safely and maintain them properly.
  10. Report safety issues, damages, or accidents immediately.
  11. Maintain cleanliness and appearance of the warehouse and facility, including debris removal, cleaning, and organization.
  12. Keep yard and parking areas tidy by removing trash daily.
  13. Verify incoming orders, count items, and organize stock to prevent damage, reporting discrepancies immediately.
  14. Handle shipping and receiving products via UPS.
  15. Use and maintain a counter notebook.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Education and Qualifications
  1. Basic understanding of HVACR systems, parts, and supplies is preferred but not required.
  2. Excellent verbal communication skills with the public and customers.
  3. Positive attitude and interpersonal skills for service delivery in branch, phone, or delivery settings.
  4. Proficiency in operating computers and Prophet 21 software.
  5. Ability to read invoices, catalogs, stock numbers, and descriptions accurately.
Work Environment

This is a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Physical activities include bending, climbing, moving, and lifting during loading/unloading and stocking. Exposure to extreme cold and heat is possible. The work schedule is typically Monday through Friday with some half-day Saturdays. This position is safety-sensitive.

Pre-employment screening is required, and forklift operation requires being at least 18 years old.
