Job summary

Ferrotec is seeking an Inventory/Stockroom Clerk to receive, store, and distribute materials, parts, and equipment. You will maintain accuracy in inventory balances and locations, and support internal customers with timely service.

The role covers cycle counts, data entry, and cross-training across I-Prep, material handling, and Shipping/Receiving. A high school diploma and MRP familiarity help ensure success in this position.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some experience with MRP systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Examine, count, and sort items; prepare kitting packages for assembly production.
  • Check items received for proper identification and counts; report discrepancies.
  • Fill requests and orders from internal and external customers; ensure satisfactory service in inventory support.
  • Maintain accuracy of locations and quantities; manage stock areas, forms, tags and records.
  • Use inventory control records and routine data entry to track on-hand balances.

Responsible for performing tasks involved in receiving, storing, and distributing materials, parts, supplies, and equipment. Follows established procedures and verbal instructions. Maintains responsibility for accuracy of inventory balances and locations. Maintains high internal customer satisfaction with efficient and complete service and support.

What Success Looks Like
  • Examines, counts, and sorts items; completes necessary paperwork or transactions; and prepares kitting packages for assembly production.
  • Checks all items received in the stockroom for proper identification and counts, reporting any discrepancies to supervisor or lead.
  • Fills requests and orders from internal and external customers and ensures that customers get satisfactory service in inventory support.
  • Answers inventory questions for, and provides inventory information to, other departments.
  • Works from material lists and inventory control records.
  • Maintains accuracy in both location and quantity for all items.
  • Maintains stationery supplies such as request forms, tags, etc.
  • Maintains all stock areas in a neat, clean, and safe working condition.
  • May operate a forklift or other material handling devices (requiring on‑the‑job training).
  • Maintains all related clerical records and computer transactions in connection with all inventory items received, moved, and issued.
  • Uses the computer for data entry, running reports for cross checking inventory balances, stock status for on‑hand balances, before material is issued.
  • Assists more junior level Inventory/Stockroom Clerks with challenging issues.
  • Conducts daily cycle counts.
  • Prepares inventory reports.
  • Understands and works from material lists and inventory control records.
  • Requires cross training and performing work in various capacities including I‑Prep, material handling, and Shipping/Receiving activities.
  • Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business.
  • Achievement of objectives must include an over‑riding commitment to quality that must permeate the areas of responsibility.

What You Need To Be Successful
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 4 years’ experience.
  • Requires some MRP knowledge.
Physical Requirements
  • Occasionally ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
  • Occasionally moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
  • Occasionally remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Constantly moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Occasionally adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
  • Constantly communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Occasionally operating machinery and/or power tools.
  • Constantly operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
  • Constantly assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Occasionally subjected to low temperatures and high temperatures
  • Occasional sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
  • Constant light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds
  • Occasional medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged use of computer monitors.
  • Possible chemical exposure to alcohol, nitrogen, Loctite, etc. Personal protective equipment is provided and required.
