Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Under supervision of the Purchasing and Warehouse Specialist, the Warehouse Clerk II performs work relating to school asset inventory; performs tasks related to establishing, maintaining, and reconciling asset inventory records; assigns and attaches identification numbers to property subject to control; checks-in/out school materials/resources to authorized employees; conducts physical inventories and performs other related duties as required, will perform a combination of clerical duties for the booking, processing, shipping, and receipt of books and/or classroom materials to school sites.

This position directly supports student learning and the delivery of educational services through management, deployment, maintenance, and support of instructional materials, educational technology, student information systems, student devices, and operational resources utilized by students, teachers, and educational staff.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive orders for materials by mail, phone, or in person and separate orders by category; determine availability of items by checking automated booking system or data runs.
  • Pull books and/or multi-media materials for pick up or delivery to sites.
  • Answer telephone inquiries regarding status of ordered materials; prepare and send notices for overdue or missing items or contact borrower by phone.
  • Check in returned materials by automated booking system; operate on-line data terminals for maintenance of records related to receipt, storage, and distribution of materials; take inventory and maintain records.
  • May mend worn or torn books and make minor repairs to special exhibits; arrange shelves to accommodate added or withdrawn materials; maintain orderliness of assigned areas.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet the operational, educational, business, compliance, and student service needs of Altus Schools. Such duties will be consistent with the employee's qualifications and the general nature and level of the position.
KNOWLEDGE OF/ABILITY TO

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license and have reliable transportation.
  • Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Some college desired.
  • Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible experience related to inventory or financial record keeping.
  • Ability to maintain reliable on-site attendance and punctuality in accordance with assigned work schedule.

WORKING CONDITIONS

ENVIRONMENT: Indoor, office and warehouse setting; exposure to computer screens.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Hearing and speaking to exchange information with staff, external persons, and vendors; seeing and reading to perform assigned duties; standing for extended periods of time; walking throughout the warehouse, storage areas, inventory sections, and workstations; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment and data entry and labeling; ability to use hands and fingers; repetitive stooping, kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store books and instructional materials; ability to lift and move equipment and boxes weighing about 30 pounds; traveling to attend visits at resource centers, external venues, and staff meetings with reliable transportation.

WORK LOCATION AND OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is primarily performed in an in-person educational environment to support the operational, instructional, compliance, and student service needs of Altus Schools. The employee will be required to work onsite up to five (5) days per week to support school operations, instructional continuity, student services, compliance functions, audits, staff support, meetings, training, and other operational requirements necessary for the effective functioning of the schools.

The ability to report onsite as assigned is considered an essential function of this position and is necessary to support collaboration, responsiveness, operational efficiency, supervision, and continuity of educational services.

LOCATION

12-Month Workday Contract – 100% onsite (Monday-Friday)

SELECTION PROCESS

Qualified applicants will first complete a brief work styles/behavioral survey. Candidates recommended from the first interview will advance to a final interview with the Deputy Superintendent School Services and Founding Director, and the Superintendent School Services and Founder.
