Job summary

Irving ISD is seeking a dedicated Warehouse Clerk to support educational and operational needs through efficient management of inventory and logistics. The successful candidate will ensure timely delivery of materials and maintain a clean and organized workspace. This role demands strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and effective communication with staff and visitors. Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years clerical or warehouse operations experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid Class C Texas driver's license.
  • Experience with automated inventory systems is preferred.

Primary Purpose

Provide quality and timely support to the District’s educational, maintenance, and extracurricular programs by maintaining a well-stocked, rapid response warehousing operation and effective pickup and delivery schedule.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Certification

High School Diploma or GED

Forklift Operator Certification preferred

Valid Class C Texas driver’s license and proof of insurability with District insurance carrier

Special Knowledge/Skills

Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously

Ability to understand and follow detailed written or verbal instructions

Strong public relations, organizational, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills

Ability to perform basic math accurately and quickly

Knowledge of automated inventory and materials handling systems

Ability to operate equipment including but not limited to: medium to heavy duty trucks with standard shift transmissions, pallet jacks, lift gate, electric and gas powered forklifts, two and four wheel dollies

Experience

Three years clerical or warehouse operations experience, and online ordering experience preferred

Major Responsibilities And Duties

Inventory, Receiving, Distribution, and Delivery

  • Pull materials and supplies designated in orders and distribute stock as needed.
  • Initiate and prepare all purchase requests to maintain stock levels and ensure that standard stock items are always available.
  • Evaluate stock locations for efficiency of pulling and staging orders.
  • Assist in inventory control and the yearly inventory for the entire warehouse area.
  • Assist with ordering stock items.
  • Accept deliveries from common carriers, inspect for damages and verify accuracy against purchase orders (PO) or receiving documentation (packing slips etc.)
  • Help with Parts Clerk and Dock duties in their absence.
  • Assist in the coordination of delivery and pick-up of mail and other resource materials.
  • Ensure vehicles are properly maintained and keep all vehicle logs up to date and filed.

Clerical

  • Positively engage all Warehouse visitors upon arrival.
  • File all documents and reports associated with shipping, receiving, and ordering supplies, and process shipping and receiving tickets as needed.
  • Respond to phone calls, provide assistance to callers, take reliable messages, route calls to appropriate staff, and assist customers visiting the warehouse office.
  • Communicate with off-site personnel using the radio system.
  • Maintain an organized and clean office.

Other

  • Maintain a positive rapport with staff and others and refer problems or concerns to appropriate personnel in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Exhibit behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible, and serve as a role model for staff and public.
  • Respond in a timely manner when contacted regarding urgent situations or emergencies (during or outside of normal business hours)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Safety

  • Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals, two-way radio, multi-line phone system, copier, fax machine; small hand tools; medium to heavy duty truck with standard shift transmission, pallet jack, electric and gas powered forklifts, two and four wheel dollies

Posture: Frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions. Keyboarding, and use of mouse; frequent walking, climbing stairs and ladders and scaffolding; grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; visual acuity to distinguish basic colors

Lifting: Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds without assistance, 30-55 pounds with assistance, and more than 55 pounds with appropriate assistance

Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, and vibration; work around moving objects and vehicles; work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, and to have schedule altered with little or no warning
