Job summary

Silgan Plastics Corporation is seeking a production-oriented team member to support packaging, shipping, and receiving operations in a safe manufacturing environment.

The role includes operating forklifts and stretch wrappers, unitizing finished cartons by lot, and using RF scanners to manage inventory and transfers. Candidates should be attentive to safety, capable of teamwork, and able to perform duties with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment and adhere to safety policies.

• Load materials into carton erectors and operate stretch wrappers.
• Drive fork/clamp trucks with a Silgan forklift license to wrap and store finished goods.
• Use RF scanner to transfer, inquire and scan to/from hold finished goods.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and report unsafe conditions.

Job description

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Will promote a safe working environment. Understands and adheres to all Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers. Will promote a “teamwork” atmosphere by assisting where needed in housekeeping, organizing, packing, transporting corrugated, erecting corrugated and forklift operations for production, shipping and receiving. Unitize finished good cartons by lot number ensuring no mixed cases. Run carton make up area, loading materials into carton erectors, assigning the correct cartons to production lines and housekeeping. Operate stretch wrappers for covering finished good products. With a Silgan provided forklift operator license drive fork/clamp trucks to wrap and put away finished goods. Use a RF scanner to produce, transfer, inquiry and scan to and from hold finished goods. Evaluates and takes appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines. Inspect work areas and look for unsafe acts/conditions. Effectively use verbal and written communications. Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures. Assists with other duties as assigned.
