Job summary

Silgan Plastics Corporation in Kentucky seeks a forklift operator to move materials safely and efficiently, operate forklift and clamp attachments, and complete loading, unloading, and related paperwork as directed.

You must have a high school diploma or GED, be able to obtain a forklift license, and demonstrate basic math and grammar skills, along with strong verbal and organizational abilities to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Job description

Operate a Forklift in a safe and responsible manner Read and understand all operational and safety rules and guidelines provided during forklift license training. Operate both fork and clamp attachments Transport finished goods and raw materials as directed Load and unload semi-trailers and complete the necessary paperwork and communications as directed Understand and use all scanning equipment required to perform job Maintain and update status of inventory information through scans, written or logged as necessary Lift and carry containers as needed Lift and carry packaging such as pallets, shrink-wrap etc. as needed. Communicate in a professional manner with supervisor, coordinators & co-workers as necessary. Assist other departments as needed Perform other duties as directed. Evaluates and takes appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines. Inspect work areas and look for unsafe acts/conditions. Effectively use verbal and written communications. Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Perform sweeping cleaning, sorting duties as necessary. Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures.

EDUCATION: Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (if applicable): Obtain or be able to obtain a forklift driver’s license Possess proficient mathematic and grammar skills Able to lift and load containers of boxes as required up to 50lbs Good verbal and organizational skills This position requires the cognitive and mental ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
