Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking dynamic, friendly, and customer-focused team members for a temporary 90-day or shorter period in our Shipping & Receiving department. The role involves working between a warehouse and the sales floor to ensure the store has products to service customers.

Responsibilities include assisting with shipments, packing and labeling for shipping, and supporting store operations. Flexibility in opening, midday, or closing shifts is required, with occasional weekends.

Qualifications

• Friendly personality with strong communication skills to interact with a variety of people.
• Outstanding customer service skills to work with vendors, customers, and team members.
• Basic math, keyboarding, and data entry skills.
• Flexibility in scheduling is necessary.
• Candidates must be a minimum of 16 years of age.

• Assist with shipments, orders, and invoices—verifying all for accuracy.
• Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping.
• Use hand tools, power tools, online shipping services, or postage meters.
• Maintain knowledge of all store departments to greet and support customers and team members.
• Shelve, arrange, and categorize stock according to specific criteria that changes frequently.
• Clean the store and warehouse to maintain a safe and efficient work floor.
• May provide periodic assistance with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.

Overview

Barnes & Noble College is seeking dynamic, friendly, and customer-focused team members to as temporary team members for a period of 90 days or less in our Shipping & Receiving department. In Shipping & Receiving you will spend the majority of your time between a warehouse setting and the sales floor ensuring the store has the products to service our customers.

Responsibilities

Our stores can carry everything from text and trade books, technology, and school supplies to clothing, regalia, and food-- everything a college student desires, their parents want, and our facultyneeds. Temporary positions require availability to work on a weekly basis for a period of 90 days or less with occasional weekends, and flexibility in scheduling for opening, midday, or closing shifts.

Expectations:

• Assist with shipments, orders, and invoices—verifying all for accuracy.

• Routine housekeeping including, for example, dusting, mopping, window cleaning, vacuuming, trash removal.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent movement within the store to access various departments, areas, and/or products.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
• Frequent lifting.
• Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
