Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking temporary team members for the Shipping & Receiving department for 90 days or less. You will move between warehouse and sales floor to ensure products are available to service customers.

Responsibilities include assisting with shipments, packing, labeling, and using shipping tools. Availability for weekly shifts, including weekends, and flexibility for opening/mid/midnight shifts is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 years.

• Clean the store and warehouse to keep a safe workspace.
• Assist with cash, credit, or financial aid payments when needed.
• Routine housekeeping such as dusting, mopping, window cleaning, vacuuming, trash removal.

Overview

Barnes & Noble College is seeking dynamic, friendly, and customer-focused team members to as temporary team members for a period of 90 days or less in our Shipping & Receiving department. In Shipping & Receiving you will spend the majority of your time between a warehouse setting and the sales floor ensuring the store has the products to service our customers.

Responsibilities

Our stores can carry everything from text and trade books, technology, and school supplies to clothing, regalia, and food-- everything a college student desires, their parents want, and our faculty needs. Temporary positions require availability to work on a weekly basis for a period of 90 days or less with occasional weekends, and flexibility in scheduling for opening, midday, or closing shifts.

Expectations:

• Assist with shipments, orders, and invoices—verifying all for accuracy.
• Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping.
• Use hand tools, power tools, online shipping services, or postage meters.
• Maintain a working knowledge of all departments in the store to be able to greet and provide support to customers and team members.
• Shelve, arrange, and categorize stock according to specific criteria that changes frequently.
• Clean the store and warehouse are to maintain a safe and efficient work floor.
• May provide periodic assistance with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
• Temporary positions require availability to work on a weekly basis for a period of 90 days or less with occasional weekends, and flexibility in scheduling for opening, midday, or closing shifts.
• Routine housekeeping including, for example, dusting, mopping, window cleaning, vacuuming, trash removal.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent movement within the store to access various departments, areas, and/or products.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
• Frequent lifting.
• Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
