Job summary

BARNES & NOBLE COLLEGE in South Bend, IN is seeking a Campus Retail Associate to deliver friendly, attentive service and support store leaders in daily retail operations. You will handle transactions, greet customers, keep shelves tidy, and assist with opening, midday, or closing shifts.

This temporary role offers flexible scheduling and opportunities to gain practical, transferable experience for students.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Confident engaging customers to deliver an elevated experience.
• Willingness to learn and excel in a fast-paced team environment.
• Basic math, keyboarding, and data entry skills.
• Flexible availability throughout the academic year including peak periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
• Greet customers and create a friendly atmosphere for a positive visit.
• Take initiative to support store operations including operating the cash register and ensuring speed and accuracy of transactions.
• Keep the store organized by shelving, arranging, cleaning, and organizing products or space.
• Temporary positions require availability to work weekly for up to 90 days with occasional weekends and flexible shifts (open, midday, or closing).
• Routine housekeeping including dusting, mopping, window cleaning, vacuuming, and trash removal.

Responsibilities

Expectations:

• Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
• Provide a friendly atmosphere by greeting customers and focusing on their positive experience throughout their visit.
• Take initiative to support store operations including operating equipment and cash register while ensuring speed of service and accurate transactions.
• Keep the store looking fresh by shelving, arranging, cleaning, and organizing products or space within the store.
• Temporary positions require availability to work on a weekly basis for a period of 90 days or less with occasional weekends, and flexibility in scheduling for opening, midday, or closing shifts.
• Routine housekeeping including, for example, dusting, mopping, window cleaning, vacuuming, trash removal.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent movement within the store to access various departments, areas, and/or products.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
• Frequent lifting.
• Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
