Job summary

Job description

Summary

Receives, stores, and distributes material and products within a warehouse by performing the following duties:

  • Lead and direct team efforts in a warehouse environment.
  • Read production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Convey materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distribute items to production workers or assembly line.
  • Assemble customer orders from stock, place orders on pallets, and convey orders to packing station or shipping department.
  • Mark materials with identifying information such as labels.
  • Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
  • Weigh or count items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
  • Arrange product in specified sequence for assembly by other workers.
Responsibilities
  • Lead a group of 10+ employees in the warehouse operation.
  • Motivate and direct team efforts while informing the department supervisor of problems or potential problems that require immediate attention.
  • Coordinate role guiding the warehouse team with clear instructions ensuring safety/security compliance and following SOPs/WI.
  • Monitor attendance and provide training and feedback via performance dialogues and Gemba Walks.
  • Suggest process changes for approval to improve individual performance and operational consistency.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning ability: apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer skills: knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is helpful.
  • Bilingual skills are highly desirable.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Physical Demands

Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
