Job summary

The Salvation Army Honolulu Distribution Center is hiring a Warehouse Associate. Pay rate is $14 per hour to support sorting, inspection, and transport of donated merchandise for our Adult Rehabilitation Program.

Ideal candidates are high school graduates who can lead, motivate, and mentor warehouse teams, communicate clearly, and adapt to diverse populations while maintaining safety and quality duties. Vaccination policy applies; overtime requires supervisor approval.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to lead, motivate and mentor teams of warehouse associates and beneficiaries.
• Strong communication, leadership, accountability, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to differentiate quality of donated items.
• Adaptability to supervising and working in various production units.
• Proven track record hitting production goals.
• Previous experience working with diverse and vulnerable populations.
• Must meet vaccination requirement per policy or exemption on file.

Responsibilities

• Sort product efficiently and properly according to TSA policy.
• Provide Quality Assurance by inspecting products for defects and damages.
• Identify product correctly and direct to proper department for processing.
• Collecting merchandise from the distribution center and safely transporting materials.
• Follow safety measures established and government regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality as needed and required for the operation of the total program.
• Overtime: Any and all overtime must have the written approval of the supervisor. The supervisor’s initials must appear on the timecard beside the overtime hours.
• Other written or verbal duties as may be assigned, from time to time by the Production Manager, the Administrator or their designated representative.

• Per California State Public Health Order dated August 5, 2021, the person hired for this position will be required to receive either the single dose COVID vaccine by September 30, 2021 or the second dose of the 2-dose COVID vaccine by September 30th, unless there is an approved medical or religious exemption on file.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
• Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks and miscellaneous carts.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks.
