Job summary

C.H. Robinson is seeking a Warehouse Associate in Des Plaines, IL to support inbound and outbound cargo movements within our warehouse. You will offload and load vehicles, operate forklifts, and ensure accurate paperwork, aiming for timely deliveries to customers.

The role requires physical stamina, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and a willingness to work flexible hours. Prior warehouse or freight forwarding experience and familiarity with Bills of Lading are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Possess good physical stamina and coordination.
• Could be required to stand and/or walk for long periods daily while frequently bending, twisting, reaching, and periodically lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Applicants in a warehouse role must complete a pre-employment drug screen as part of a conditional job offer.
• Site Specific: Ability to work flexible hours and/or days.
• Preferred: High school diploma or GED; Previous warehouse / freight forwarder experience; Familiarity with Bills of Lading, Shipping Manifests, Delivery Orders, etc.

Responsibilities

• Receive goods from customers and suppliers by offloading and loading vehicles, checking paperwork, weighing, measuring, and reporting discrepancies or damages.
• Operate stand-up, sit-down forklifts, and hand jacks for palletization, stretch wrapping, and banding of cargo.
• Load and unload trailers/ocean containers in a professional and damage-free manner.
• Prepare outbound loads by matching paperwork, labeling, and handling Unit Load Device (ULD) preparation.
• Sign off Bills of Lading accurately, verifying counts and damages.
• Maintain the flow of materials and products in warehouses with varying degrees of complexity.
