Job summary

Creative Studios in Tampa, Florida, a division of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, seeks a Theatrical Wardrobe Supervisor for our onboard Entertainment department. You will oversee all costume production, maintenance, and wardrobe operations for mainstage shows, themed events, and cruise programs.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Theatrical Costuming or related field and at least 2 years of theatrical costume shop management or wardrobe supervision experience, preferably on cruise ships.

• Minimum 2 years costume shop management in theatrical costume building and alteration.

JOB SUMMARY

Job Title: Theatrical Wardrobe Supervisor

Department: Entertainment

Manager Title: Manager, Theatrical Costuming Workroom

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES

• Oversee all aspects of the costume department onboard, including, but not limited to maintenance of all Production Company costumes, wigs, shoes, backstage dressing, laundry, costume props (if applicable) and communication to onboard management and shore side.
• Responsible for the overall organization, cleanliness, repair and maintenance of all costume pieces, costume care equipment, Cosmo Department, and Dressing Rooms for the Mainstage Shows, Bumpers, and entertainment events including theme nights and Cruise Programs Costumes.
• Participate in Socializing, Sea Day activities, Night Duties, and other duties as assigned.
• Wash and maintain assigned Cruise Staff and Youth Staff Costumes. These include but are not limited to Circus Costumes, Ocean Music Fest Costumes, Themed Party Costumes, Christmas Costumes, other Themed events around the vessel.
• To consistently exceed guest expectations and provide the highest levels of product and services, additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
• Assume personal responsibility for safety and NCLH’s impact upon the environment.

PRODUCTION SHOW OPERATIONS

• Fit, alter, sew, and wash theatrical costumes to the specifics requested by management, in a timely fashion.
• Laundry: washing, ironing, steaming, pressing, categorizing laundry by show, color, fabric type.
• Sanitize accessories, shoes, hats, headpieces, etc. according to instructions from Costume Ship Lead/Theatrical Fleet Wardrobe Supervisor. oFast thinking skills in terms of repairs, reblocks/refits, and live entertainment.
• Work with Dance Captain, Vocal Captain, and EPM/SM/TOM/CD to create working show day schedule and to create any reblocks needed during the contract.
• Give feedback to EPM/TOM regarding the performers abilities and behaviors to aid in monthly and end of contract evaluations.
• Dress shows and create backstage tracks for entire wardrobe team including over hire dressers. Including any reblock tracks.
• Recruit and train over hire dressers.
• Pack road boxes with original inventory list. Fill out and submit proper offload paperwork in a timely manner.
• Shoe maintenance: painting, dying, rubbering, etc. o Wig maintenance and application, millinery repair, crafts building and repair. (If applicable)
• Be present at all technical and show runs for all Production Cast shows and bumpers.
• Write a Voyage report at the end of each voyage to send to the Shoreside Team.
• Participate in entertainment-related events for themed-holidays onboard. This can include an onboard-produced Holiday show, Equator Crossing event, International Date Line Crossing Event, and/or other events around the vessel.
• Participate in themed evening events. This can include Beetles night, ABBA night, Dress to Impress and/or any event around the vessel.
• Follow all protocols set by EPM, TOM, Stage Manager, Assistant Cruise Director, and/or Cruise Director regarding stage safety and backstage etiquette.
• Supervise Production Cast costume presets, and set protocols for proper care and maintenance of costumes, accessories, shoes, etc.
• Attend all scheduled entertainment meetings.
• Shift scenery as needed and assigned for the smooth running of the show.
• Participate in promotional performances, photo shoots, or events related to assigned shows or vessels.
• Participate in assigned Question and Answer sessions with other Show Captains.
• Participate and be present for all back-stage tours.
• Organize and clean all dressing areas, stock areas, costume racks and road boxes.
• Keep all Hazards stored appropriately and have accurate SDS’s according to onboard Environmental/Safety Officer. Keep an accurate monthly inventory that is updated on the Share Drive. o Complete Monthly Supply inventory and submit according to instructions from Fleet Wardrobe Supervisor.
• Ability to self-manage to ensure all work gets done in a timely manner while staying in the guidelines of Rest-Work hours.

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree with a major in Theatrical Costuming or Theatrical management preferred, or any equivalent combination of relevant and work-related skills and experience.
• Minimum 2 years costume shop management in theatrical costume building and alteration, OR
• Minimum 2 years of experience as wardrobe supervisor or assistant on tour or in summer stock companies, OR
• Minimum 2 years of cruise ship experience as wardrobe supervisor or theatrical wardrobe stitcher.

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in theatrical alteration, pattern making, draping, hand and machine sewing, washing, dying, millinery, craft building and repair, dressing, backstage track creation, quick changes, shoe repair, wig maintenance, foam character maintenance.
• Training of over-hire dressers.
• Advanced level of English verbal and writing skills.
• Knowledge of cruise ship entertainment operations.
