Job summary

Community HealthCare System in Kansas is seeking a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant to provide compassionate bedside care overnight. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor patients, document care in the EHR, and support admission, transfer, and discharge processes.

You will collaborate with nursing staff, answer call lights, ensure safety, manage supplies, and greet visitors, upholding patient rights and CHCS standards on a night shift from 8:00pm to 6:00am.

Qualifications

• Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the State of Kansas.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living and ensure safety and comfort.
• Support admission, transfer and discharge processes with RN validation.
• Perform delegated nursing tasks and monitor patient conditions.
• Document care, patient information and charges in the EHR.
• Conduct bedside registration and collect demographics and insurance data.
• Provide clerical support, answer calls, route messages and manage supplies.
• Greet visitors, communicate with patients and families, and coordinate with staff.
• Ensure availability of patient care equipment and report shortages.

Job description

• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, positioning, linen changes, meal preparation, feeding assistance, intake/output monitoring, rounding, and responding to call lights to ensure safety and comfort.
• Supports patient activity programs and assists with admission, transfer, and discharge processes, including admission histories with RN validation.
• Performs delegated clinical tasks per nursing direction, including EKGs, IV removal, vital sign equipment checks, and other nursing functions as assigned.
• Monitors patient conditions, reports changes, accidents, and incidents, and communicates patient needs to the assigned nurse.
• Documents care, patient information, and charges accurately in electronic health records and logs.
• Conducts bedside registration by interviewing patients or responsible parties and entering demographic, insurance, and legal documentation (e.g., living wills, DPOA).
• Provides clerical and administrative support, including answering and triaging calls, routing messages and lab results, maintaining charts, census and medication reports, and managing office supplies.
• Greets and directs visitors and maintains effective communication with patients, families, staff, physicians, and ancillary departments.
• Ensures availability of patient care equipment and reports shortages to nursing leadership.
• Upholds patient rights and supports the mission, values, policies, and professional standards of CHCS.
• On-going compliance with CHCS educational requirements.
• All other duties as required.
