Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Will be oriented to and maintain competence in working with patients in the following age categories: Med/Surg/Skilled/ICU – infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Competence at the beginning of employment will be measured through observation during orientation and review of documentation. Ongoing competence will be measured through observation of clinical practice, performance evaluation, and competency in‑service. See attached sheet for other initial and ongoing competence required by each department.
Experience: One year of experience as a ward clerk or clerical healthcare role is desirable. One year of previous experience as a nurse assistant or similar position is desirable in the absence of ward clerk or clerical experience.
May require constant sitting and grasping. Frequents lifting and carrying up to 5 lbs and bending. The job requires frequent reaching and twisting, as well as pushing and pulling objects up to 10 lbs. Occasionally walking is required. Eye‑hand coordination, finger and manual dexterity are required. Requires corrected hearing and vision within normal range. Use of office equipment such as computers, telephones, copying machines, fax machines and intercoms is required. Repetitive movements such as typing and writing are required. Job requires working under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours. Potential exposure to body fluids and radiation. Requires ability to distinguish letters and symbols.
Includes working frequent weekends and holidays, with potential for varied shifts, overtime, cost‑containment absent days, or standby time.
