Job summary

Austin Waldorf School is seeking a part-time Grades Assistant to support the Grades Teacher in delivering Waldorf education for grades 1-8. The role focuses on assisting with lesson delivery, classroom management, and student engagement within a balanced, creative, and nurturing learning environment.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in education, familiarity with Waldorf principles, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in education or child development preferred.
• Previous Waldorf or holistic education experience helpful.
• Familiarity with Waldorf education principles and developmental stages beneficial.
• Strong classroom management and motivational strategies required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with students, parents, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Grades Teacher in delivering Waldorf curriculum for grades 1-8 across literacy, math, arts, and sciences.
• Create and maintain a positive, engaging learning environment aligned with Waldorf principles.
• Provide individualized and small-group support to meet diverse learning needs.
• Assume teacher responsibilities in the lead teacher’s absence.
• Supervise students during breaks and transitions to ensure safety and well-being.
