Job Summary
Part‑time waiter/waitress positions at the Harvard Conference Center, located on Western Avenue, Boston, MA 02135. Requires prior food and beverage service experience.
Location & Schedule
- Location: Harvard Conference Center, Western Avenue, Boston, MA 02135.
- Schedule: Part‑time; Friday through Sunday, hours may vary. Additional details will be provided during the interview.
Compensation
Pay Range: $20.00–$26.77 per hour.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room; take food and beverage orders efficiently following established service steps.
- Deliver food promptly and professionally; maintain safe food handling and sanitation standards. Follow up periodically to assist with additional needs or requests.
- Demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients; advise guests on appropriate combinations of food and drinks; accommodate reasonable requests and note preferences. As needed, demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets and allergens.
- Communicate directly with back‑of‑house staff to ensure orders are delivered correctly and special requests are accommodated.
- Exhibit exceptional communication skills and the ability to get along well with others; remain flexible and patient with guests and staff.
- Collect tickets and follow proper cash‑handling procedures.
- Promote a clean, safe, and neat environment for guests.
- Maintain a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information shared.
- Promptly address complaints or issues; relay relevant information or complaints directly to supervisor.
- Ensure that the dining room is properly set up before and after service; keep the area clean and meet established sanitation standards.
- Operate a variety of equipment, including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines.
- Collaborate with staff from other departments to perform job duties during special events and functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Abide by all company policies and procedures, including: use of medium‑weight cut gloves when handling knives, peelers, choppers, or cleaning slicers; use of oven mitts, fryer gloves, or steamer gloves when handling hot pans; use of slip‑resistant shoes and proper lifting techniques.
Requirements
- Previous food and beverage service experience required.
- Florida Level 2 background screening may be required for certain positions.
