Job summary

Draper in Cambridge, MA is seeking a hands-on Wafer Tech technician to operate and maintain fabrication equipment for prototype hardware used in national defense and space systems. This isn’t a desk job; it’s fast-paced and requires careful attention to detail.

You will move wafers through the cleanroom, run steps from start to finish, and work with engineers to troubleshoot and improve processes while documenting results and ensuring quality.

Qualifications

  • Requires 2-year technical degree plus 10 years of experience, or 4-year degree plus 10 years.
  • Relevant technical certificates with 10 years of experience considered.
  • 15+ years of experience may be acceptable in lieu of formal degrees.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain government security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Move wafers through the cleanroom and run fabrication steps from start to finish.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain dry etch systems, lithography, deposition, and wet chemistry tools.
  • Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot, improve processes, and keep equipment running.
  • Assemble and test prototype hardware (mechanical and electrical) and document results.
  • Maintain accurate records using basic computer tools and reporting.
  • Mentor junior technicians as needed and follow SOPs.
