Job summary

Coherent is seeking an experienced maintenance technician to service wafer processing equipment in a controlled clean room environment. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on a range of tools, validate corrective actions, and collaborate with process and facilities teams to keep uptime high.

The role requires hands-on hardware skills, ability to read schematics and blueprints, and readiness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Qualifications

• Practical knowledge and application of electronics, mechanics, vacuum theory, math, computers, and testing.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and ability to learn the operational concepts of systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, pneumatic diagrams, and flow charts.
• Ability to operate test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, current/voltage sources).
• Able to follow procedures and work in a clean room environment.
• Must be able to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain wafer processing tools as directed by management, equipment engineers or senior technicians.
• Run equipment to validate corrective actions.
• Perform reactive maintenance and scheduled preventive maintenance on wafer and assembly tools.
• Track, record and communicate maintenance progress to Fab and EES teams.
• Mentor and train new team members.
• Work independently and in teams as needed.
• Troubleshoot to repair common failures and reduce downtime.
• Assist data collection to resolve recurring issues with process teams.
