Job summary

RJW Logistics Group is seeking an Inventory Control Clerk for their facility in Plainfield, Illinois. The candidate will conduct inventory counts, audits, and assist in managing inventory discrepancies. The role requires physical participation in inventory activities as well as data input.

The position offers a pay of $18.00 per hour with shifts primarily from 5am to 3:30pm on select weekdays. Candidates with a background in warehouse operations and computer skills will be preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-3 months experience in Inventory Control.
  • Experience in warehouse environment is required.
  • Forklift certification is a plus.

Job Purpose

The Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for conducting cycle counts and bin location audits, researching and reconciling inventory discrepancies, and working with the Inventory Supervisor/Manager on inventory‐related functions concerning materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts in stockroom, warehouse, or yard.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Perform physical counts of inventory items to maintain accurate inventory.
  • Count and reconcile randomly selected or chosen part numbers and/or locations daily.
  • Accurately input inventory control data to ensure inventory integrity.
  • Complete necessary documentation thoroughly, accurately, and on time.
  • Trace history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies and recommend remedial actions.
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor/manager.
  • Spend 80% or more of the workday performing inventory activities in the warehouse using an RF Gun or Tablet; 20% or less at a computer terminal.
  • Travel to and assist at other facilities as needed.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ensure compliance with inventory processes, procedures, and contractual obligations.
  • Physically count articles or products on shelves, racks, and pallets.
  • Use a computer terminal to account for inventory issues, returns, and documentation.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1‑3 months related experience and/or training in Inventory Control.
  • Minimum 1‑3 months related experience and/or training in a warehouse environment.
  • Experience operating power equipment such as Reach Truck, EPJ, or cherry picker/order picker.
  • Experience using WMS software a plus (Synapse preferred).
  • PC literate with experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access Database.
Education And/or Experience Required
  • High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency.
  • Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Read and write emails.
  • Physically count articles or products on shelves, racks, and pallets.
  • Forklift certification a plus.
Language Skills Sets
  • Effectively communicate, read, write, and speak English.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Determine root cause of problems and recommend corrective action.
Computer Skills

Must have knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite for writing emails and creating reports.

Physical Demands
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 55 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Speak comfortably in front of others.
  • Frequently talk, hear, stand, and walk.
  • Work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required.
  • Work under stressful situations, maintain accuracy, and concentrate on multiple tasks.
  • Read and discern visual images on a variety of media with 20/20 corrected vision.
  • Speak and communicate clearly over the telephone.
  • Be in sound physical health with no evidence of substance use per a certified licensed physician.
Work Environment

Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. Noise level ranges from quiet to moderately loud.
