Job summary

ASR Group in Louisiana is seeking a W&S Loading Operator/Fork Lift Operator to manage loading, moving, and handling products in an industrial warehouse. You will operate a forklift, palletize loads, inspect carriers, and coordinate loading plans to minimize damage.

Two to three years of forklift experience in a warehouse, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to work varied shifts are required. Safety and accuracy are essential, with paid vacation and sick time after 90 days.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift to load, move, and unload palletized sugar loads.
• Pile and depile loads to and from specified locations in the warehouse and loading station.
• Inspect sugar carriers (rail cars/trucks) for load readiness.
• Record storage plans and loading records; inform crew of loading method to minimize damage.
• Count and record sugar loaded by grade and quantity.
• Perform clerical duties (loading records, package records, etc.) as needed.
• Report mechanical defects or breakdowns to foreman; operate freight elevator when required.

OVERVIEW

The W&S Loading Operator/Fork Lift Operator is responsible for all aspects of loading, moving, and handling products within an industrial warehouse facility.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operates fork-lift truck equipment by means of mechanical and manual controls.
• Trucks palletized loads of packaged sugar by piling and depiling from and to specified location in warehouse and loading station.
• Inspects sugar carriers such as rail cars or trucks, to ascertain that carriers are acceptable to load.
• Records storage plan on loading record and informs loading crew of desired method or plan for loading carriers to insure minimum damage to sugar in transit.
• Counts and records sugar loaded by grade and quantity.
• Performs other clerical duties to insure proper and accurate loading such as preparing Loading Records, Package Records, Loading Time Records, etc.
• Performs other related duties as directed by foreman or supervisors.
• Trucks loaded pallets from storage area to railroad cars or trucks on loading platform; trucks incoming pallet loads to specified area.
• Supplies and moves empty pallets to palletizers and to other specified locations in warehouse area.
• May be required to manually rehandle, replace or remove packages from pallet loads. May be required to drive other trucks or tractors.
• Obtains equipment form designated location before work and returns equipment when work is completed.
• Reports immediately any mechanical defects or breakdowns of equipment to foreman. May operate freight elevator when necessary to transport sugar and warehouse shipping supplies from one floor to another.
• Performs all jobs in accordance with established safety practices and sanitation standards.

WORK EXPERIENCES

• Two to three years of experience driving a forklift within a warehouse

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of different grades, packages and loading patterns
• Must be a team player with a focus on customer service
• Must be able to maneuverer equipment in confined areas while

• Should possess ability to read shipping documents and other written material
• This position requires the flexibility to work various shifts, including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and overtime, as needed. Weekend shifts may be mandated based on business needs.

Hourly Rate

• $28.49
• Paid vacation and sick time after 90 day probation period.
