Job summary

Tenneco Inc. in Wisconsin is seeking a full-time valve seat insert operator to run and adjust compacting presses and associated furnaces.

You will read production schedules, verify settings, and ensure parts meet strict quality standards in a high-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires attentiveness to safety protocols, the ability to operate overhead hoists and automation, and reliable documentation of inspections and process parameters.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for creating a quality product.
• Participates in training to produce quality output and follows preventative measures to meet customer requirements and Tenneco standards.
• Complies with legal and other requirements to avoid injury and illness.
• Understands preventative measures and creates a safe environment by identifying potential emergencies and reporting incidents.
• Adheres to the facility’s quality, environmental, health and safety management systems.
• Reads routers and production schedules for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances.
• Reads special instructions as required.
• Records information for inspection and production using forms, logs, and computer systems.
• Monitors product using inspection tools (micrometer, digital indicators, scales, hardness tester, optical comparators, digital controllers, flow gauges, visual aids).
• Verifies equipment settings, feeds, speeds, temperatures, cycle times, and pressures against specifications.
• Starts, shuts down, and operates compacting presses.
• Makes adjustments to the press for weight and overall length.
• Loads/unloads and operates furnaces; monitors automation near furnaces.
• Operates overhead hoists and hand jacks; handles containers.
• Uses statistical data to determine conforming product; analyzes scrap and nonconforming parts.
• Distributes powder into powder hoppers and press lines.
• Monitors furnace temperatures and atmospheres for sintering.
• Reads and follows safety rules and performs operations.
• Performs TPMs on equipment and general cleaning.
• Overtime is required as posted weekly and may be mandated.
• Any other duties as assigned by supervisor/management.
