Position Summary

Global Impact Group is actively seeking certified and experienced American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters to deliver Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) services across the United States. Interpreters will work remotely from a secure location using a high-speed internet connection to facilitate real-time communication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals and hearing parties via video conferencing platforms. This position provides flexible scheduling, competitive rates, and the opportunity to support diverse clients including federal agencies, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and corporate organizations.

Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality, real-time American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation through secure VRI platforms.

Ensure accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation between ASL and spoken English.

Maintain professional conduct, confidentiality, and impartiality in accordance with RID Code of Professional Conduct and HIPAA/ADA regulations.

Follow client-specific protocols, including pre-session introductions, appropriate attire, and platform use.

Utilize secure video conferencing software and remain prepared for varied environments, including healthcare, legal, business, and academic contexts.

Report any technical issues or service disruptions promptly to the VRI technical support team.

Qualifications

Required:

Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), including NIC, CI, or CT.

Minimum of 2 years of experience as an ASL interpreter, with at least 1 year providing VRI services.

Fluent in both English and ASL with excellent linguistic, cognitive, and cultural mediation skills.

High-speed internet, reliable computer, webcam, and headset suitable for secure video interpreting.

Ability to maintain a professional and quiet remote work environment.

Preferred:

Experience interpreting in healthcare, legal, government, or educational settings.

Additional certifications such as BEI, or state-level interpreter licenses.

Familiarity with platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Cisco WebEx, or proprietary VRI systems.

Bilingual ability (e.g., Spanish/ASL) is a plus.

Technical Requirements

Wired high-speed internet connection (minimum 25 Mbps download, 5 Mbps upload).

Computer with a minimum of 8GB RAM, modern CPU, and secure operating system (Windows 10+ or macOS 12+).

HD webcam (1080p preferred), noise-canceling headset, and secure browser.

Backup internet or hotspot access is recommended.

Work Conditions

Fully remote work with flexible scheduling.

Available shifts include mornings, evenings, weekends, and on-demand.

Must be able to remain on camera and maintain professional posture for the duration of sessions.

Compensation

Competitive hourly or per-minute pay structure based on certifications and experience.
