Job summary

The Arc of Evansville is seeking an Employment Specialist I to support VR applicants in securing and retaining employment. You will provide direct on-the-job training and develop positive relationships with employers and co-workers.

You will coordinate with IDT members and VR staff, complete required paperwork, and maintain thorough files—ensuring compliance with BDDS and Medicaid standards while upholding the agency’s values.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field.
• Significant experience with individuals with developmental disabilities may substitute for a degree.
• Must pass DMV background check and hold a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provides on-the-job training and employment-related support to VR applicants to retain employment.
• Assesses and documents employee performance; coordinates with employers and IDT members.
• Completes required documentation per program specifications and maintains files.
• Maintains regular communication with VR counselors and completes required trainings.
• Upholds person-centered thinking and organization’s Code of Conduct.
